Later that night, he lied awake, reflecting on the majestic creature he met earlier.
"How could she see me, is she truly human, how is she so beautiful?" his mind was just as confused as his heart, he couldn't comprehend the emotions he was feeling because he never felt it before. He couldn't think clearly and that bothered him deeply. So, he went looking for answers.
Another trait Amser possess, is his sense of scent. Usually, he needs this power to sniff out the person who needs to be snuffed out. But he was willing to put his nose to find Fayre. It appears as he's on her trail, he felt a pull like no other. Like it wasn't her scent drawing him, but something innate.
He found himself in front of an old Victorian pink and white house. In a way, it seemed to capture her essence. He walked through the locked door, only to find her staring straight at him again; like she knew he was coming.
"Hello, Amser," she smiled.
"THAT'S IT! How can you see me?" he demanded once more. This seemed to be the first person who can unnerve him so quickly due to her peculiar unpredictability.
It seems that she was hurt by his behavior; and if it was any more possible, he seemed even more confused by this. But she recovered quickly, and returned her smile to its rightful place.
"We are destined to be together, you and I. We are the product of an ancient prophecy." Fayre revealed.
"A prophecy?! Do you know who I am! I am Time, I am as old as myself. If there was a prophecy, I would be the first to know. Do you mistake me as a fool, you think I could easily be subdued by your beauty?" There have been many who sought to control his power, to wield his strength; and all have failed, so what makes her any different?
"No, but you have to ask yourself, what drew you to me?" she goaded. But she was right, no one had ever seemed to capture his attention like she did. He had seen many beautiful women in his past but her aura alone stood out. Finally, Amser submitted to the obvious challenge.
"What is this prophecy, you speak of?"
They stood face to face, eyes focused on each other; as if they were undressing each other's secrets. It was only then; did she begin her tale.
"There once was the goddess of love, who was struck down on Earth; and ended up falling in love with a human. But the world was in constant peril. Humans killing off its own brethren. The goddess was hurt by this deeply and wanted to eradicate evil once and for all. But as she was about to weave a spell, her lover died in battle. Distraught as she was, her heart became filled with hate, hatred towards humanity. Wanting revenge, she strived to plunge the whole world into darkness. But the god of war stopped her. In retaliation, she weaved a spell with her dying breath. That when the world is yet again at war, a god will be forced to appear; and when he does, he'll be forced to fall in love with humanity, just to watch them be destroyed by that same hatred. As she died at the god of war's hand and a broken heart, she set that same plan in motion; challenging fate. It's only fitting that the god who would stop it all, would be time. I was born for this very purpose. Every century, a member of my family was chosen to stop darkness, and every century they conquer it; now its our turn. I come from a long line of demi gods, and that's how I can see you."
At that moment, the wind outside was howling; echoing the pain Fayre spoke of; nature was confirming this tale.
"What happened to your family members that were chosen?" Amser inquired.
"They died." Fayre revealed.
"And I'm supposed to believe that you'll meet that same fate?" Amser replied.
"There's a price to pay at the cost of saving humanity." Fayre said.
"Are they even worth saving?" Amser questioned.
"Yes." One word. Just one word, filled with unprecedent belief; a word filled with strength, her conviction made Amser want to believe; that she really was set apart from the rest of humans he met. But he realized, that this woman will be the one to change and break him.
For she will be the one to die. Another person he will yet again, outlive.
