Fred woke up the next morning to the sound of; "Hey Fred, time to get up."
Peter stood in his small room next to Fred's bed. The room was incredibly small and comfortable. The white bed stood at the far end of the bedroom opposite the abnormally large chest of drawers. Fred had already set it up to bare a small resemblance to his old bedroom. His stuffed toy lay on his bed and the photo of him, Noah and his mother stood proudly on the chest of drawers next to his bed.
"Why?" Fred asked his father
"We have a big day planned today," Peter replied, "I'll meet you in the central room in five minutes." And with that, he left the room.
It only took two minutes to get dressed and go out to the central area. As he left the room, he looked back at the photo on his drawers. His eyes swelled up at the memory of the great times he had with Noah and his mother. But he ventured forth to the room.
"Hey buddy!" said Tim, jumping up from his seat, "Hope you had a nice sleep. I know I did. I slept like a dream. Speaking of dreams, I had a nice dream where I was on the beach and then I saw this hotdog stand near me so I got up but then a monster came from the see and called out 'Hey Tim, you stole my eggs, now you will pay!' but I didn't know what he was talking about 'cause I don't like eggs but then-"
"Alright! Time to get started" Steven interrupted, much to the pleasure of Fred and the other people in the room, except for Abi who was intently listening to the dream Tim was talking about. She seemed quite disappointed it was over.
"Fred, are you okay with coming on a mission with us?" Steven asked
"A mission?"
"Basically, we are going to go into the small government building on the edge of London. There, there is a USB with information about every single persons' address. That's how they know where to go to kill someone on 'Midnight Massacres'. The USB is in a vault in the basement of the building. What we have to do is turn off the security cameras and get someone in the vault. That's where you come in Fred, you're our thief." Steven explained.
"Thief?" Fred clarified, afraid that what he heard was true
"Yes, thief"
"But Fred," Peter said, "please don't feel obliged to follow through."
"Yes, this is only a favor. You don't have to do it if you don't want to." Steven clarified
"But I will never respect you if you say no," Izzy said, though the shadow in the back of the room.
"She didn't mean that," Abi said with a worried facial expression
"Try my bit-"
"What do you say?" Steven said, interrupting Izzy's vulgar word.
This was a big choice for Fred. What would the mission bring? Surely victory if it succeeds, but if it doesn't... injury, death? But, like Izzy, he would not respect himself if he did not take this risk. He was nearly a grown up after all.
"I'll do it" Fred finally said
"Great!," Said Steven, giving Fred a high-five, "Alright, this is what's going to happen..."
