The thin twig snapped underneath Ayres weight alerting the rabbit of his presence. It sniffed the air then bounded away into the dense trees of the kimlogan forest.
"Blast it. I've been out in this accursed forest for three days and all I have to show for it is a couple of birds." He slumped against the thickest tree he could find and contemplated if he should go further into the forest to find food. "Well if I stay here it won't do mu-" he was cut off by the sounds of a large group of animals.
He peeked out from behind the tree to take a look. "Two deer! I haven't been this lucky since, well forever!" He crept forward a little so he could take better aim. His hair blended in with the night that's how black it was and his eyes were as green as the summer grass. Everyone in his village knows he has his mothers hair and his fathers eyes.
He took an arrow from his quiver and knocked it, he pulled the string back, took aim and fired. His aim true he hit the biggest deer and in quick succession hit the smaller one. "Mother and father will be pleased."
He quickly skinned the beasts and then removed the good meat off the deer. "This will last us a couple of weeks unless we ration it but I doubt mother and father will want that." He put all the meat he cut off into his pack and wondered a little deeper into the forest.
After traveling a little deeper into the forest the amount of trees had gotten so thick he could see little to none. Just as he was about to turn back he saw a glint of red. "Curious."
He walked cautiously towards the source to investigate the red colour. What he saw was a strange red gem.
"What on earth would a gem like this be doing out here?" It was as red as blood, had a beautiful golden trimming and it was shaped like the Ron Torana. Why it would be shaped like the Ron Torana he had no clue as it was just a legend. The legend states that this was a shield wielded by the ancients and that the shield was impenetrable so the ancients never lost in battle.
