Bridget's Story

"I-I" I stuttered out, barely whispering.

"Cat caught your tongue?" Tiffany, the high school bully sneered. I ducked my head in shame. And just kept walking. I couldn't deal with her today. Especially with my brothers words still in my head from yesterday.

*FlashBack*

"Liam! Honey! Liam's calling!" My mum yelled throughout the house. A smile grew on my face. This is the happiest I felt in 2 years. Liam only called when I wasn't home. And didn't answer my calls, but now he finally called when I was home.

I raced down the stairs. Maybe this will crack me out of my shell. Maybe this is the day I talk again! I've became mute since Liam left, not because I can't talk, because I'm depressed. And do not wish to talk.

When I finally reach towards mum, her smile widens when she sees my smile.

"And here she is! No, Liam, stop being so rude!" Mum yelled into the phone. I took the phone from her and put it on speaker. and that's when I heard his voice, for the first time in forever.

"Because mum! She's just gonna try to do a guilt trip on me! Say how much she misses me, tells me to come home, talk about her problems in life. I don't need her pulling me back on my dreams." I frown, tears welling up in my eyes. Mum stands there speechless.

I just shake my head, frowning, I definitely wasn't gonna talk now.

"Come on, Bridget, say something, I know you want to," Mum tried persuading me. I just shook my head, tears streaming down my face. "Liam, this was her only chance to talk! Now you ruined it," Mum sighed afterwards. And I gave her the evil eye. How dare she talk about me being mute in front of him.

"Wh-why won't sh-she talk?" Liam asked wearily.

"Because she's mute!" Mum yelled, at that point I ran up to my room, soundlessly sobbing. If that makes sense.

*FlashBack Over*

So yeah, I don't talk, and everyone at school makes fun of me for it, and no one stands up for me, because I have no friends. Welcome to my life.

It was lunchtime, and I was walking with my tray, trying to find a spot to sit. That is, until I tripped on someone's foot, causing me to face-plant into my lunch, which happens to be spaghetti. Everyone started laughing, the whole cafeteria filling up with numerous of laughs. I quickly standing up and run to the girls room, there was a time when I wasn't so shy, or mute, or insecure, a time before Liam broke me...

I was popular, only because when Liam was 14 and he was on TV. But still, I could talk. Tiffany, my bully, was my best friend. Yeah, weird.

Now I'm just a shy, insecure, mute girl that no one likes. 

I wash off the food, tears running down my face. Maybe its time to go home. I run out of school, and just walk straight in my house, surprising my mum.

"Bridge?" she asked cautiously. I couldn't help but let a few tears slip out. "Oh Bridget," she engulfed me in a hug, while I'm crying a river.

Why'd Liam leave for the X-Factor?

All these questions, and I cant even ask him. Oh Liam, why'd you do this to me?
