EMERSON FINDLAY
"You would never be a burden to me, my sweet. And....... I love your Pokémon pyjamas." That was the last thing I heard before I fell asleep and the first thing going on in my head when I woke up in the morning.
Thankfully, I was able to sleep peacefully for the rest of my life. As I woke up, I turned around to find the bed beside me absolutely empty. I frowned. The bright sun rays seeped into the room through the space between the curtains. I finally got out of bed and straight into the bathroom. After I brushed my teeth and combed my hair. I went outside the room, the smell of fresh strawberries and waffles hitting my nostrils.
As I moved towards the door of the kitchen, I never expected to see what I saw. A sweaty Adrian was fanning himself and blowing air through his mouth while making a waffle using the machine. I stood there motionless, stunned by what I was just gaping at. Soon, he put the cooked waffle above the pile and turned the machine off. Now, he focused his attention on the strawberries on the platform. He took out a knife but, before he began, he removed his t-shirt. It was the one he wore when he brought dinner for me.
It had gotten stuck to his body and had become see-through. He just flung it behind him without turning back. I really just wanted to turn around and rush back to the room where I came from but somehow, he had me completely rooted like a tree on my spot.
I didn't know how, but with my clumsy self, I still managed to catch his t-shirt. If I said that I was completely grossed out from watching his bare back and wanted to puke, then that would be a lie. It was actually a good view.
My staring competition with Adrian's back was brought to an abrupt end when he cleared his throat, sensing my presence without even turning back. How did he always know when I was behind him? It was so not weird. I let that thought slide as I listened to what he said.
"I know you are enjoying it, but don't you think that it is a little rude to stare like that?"
I knew he was smirking but I could do nothing to wipe that off. He had definitely caught me off guard. I just stood there blinking rapidly. Slowly, I cleared my throat which had gotten constricted due to reasons unknown to me.
"Good morning." I greeted, unable to find anything else to say.
It seemed like the air conditioner wasn't working because I too had started feeling quite hot. He turned around and took steps towards me. I could not focus on anything else but his dark blue eyes.
They were looking deep into my hazel ones, keeping me still on my feet. They had me paralyzed and held a mischievous glint in them. I was so sure that I was in trouble.
After I didn't know how long, I realized that he was standing very close to me. I could smell the menthol scent of toothpaste on his breath. I hadn't realized that he had also brought a piece of the strawberry he was just slicing. He put it in front of my mouth.
"Want to have a bite?" he asked and raised an eyebrow.
I could feel a tingly feeling course through my entire body. I didn't know what possessed me but, suddenly I was tempted to eat that slice. I opened my mouth to take it all in together but he stopped me.
"Uh Uh. Only half of it sweetheart." The last word alone was enough to make me feel lightheaded. I just bit half of it.
He took the other half near his mouth and ate it. Then, he slowly cupped my cheek as he smirked but soon, it changed into a frown. He touched my forehead with the back of his hand and then my neck.
"You have a fever." He declared. So, the mystery of constricting my throat and feeling hot was solved.
"I'm fine," I said as I checked my own temperature.
