EMERSON FINDLAY
I slowly opened my eyes, not because I wanted to, but because I had to. Someone was shaking me and calling my name. I sat up and the first thing I saw was Adrian's face, just in front of mine. What was he doing here? Again? Twice within a week?
His eyes darted into mine. I slowly bent a little away as I took in my surroundings. I was not at home, definitely not. This one was far better than mine. Then, at that moment, everything came back to me.
That was not my home anymore. I now remembered Claire throwing me out of that place, me sitting in the park, and Adrian taking me to his home. I felt like a complete burden. The room was white in colouy furniture.
A humongous bed, a huge couch and a study would sum up all the furniture present. It also had a huge balcony beyond French windows.
The windows helped me come to conclude was still night and still raining. The room also had its own en-suite. Just then, I felt Adrian's thumb and forefinger under my chin.
"Hey. Sorry but, I had to wake you up. You need to have something to eat." He said.
"No, it's fine. I'm not hungry." I averted my gaze and tried to get away from him.
However, all my plans were thrown out of the window the moment my stomach decided to defy me. It grumbled like a whale. I shut my eyes as heat crept up my neck due to embarrassment.
It was because of two things: one, that I just realized how I had cried in the car I didn't know how long ago and two, that my stomach had to give me in at the very specific time I didn't want it to.
He smirked. "Your stomach definiees with you."
He gave out a laugh and continued. "Go; take a warm shower till I get the bed sheets changed. Then I think you may like to have dinner."
I found myself simply nodding. He helped me stand up and as I was making my way to the bathroom, I realized something.
"Um..... Can you tell me where my bag is? I would need my clothes after the shower."
"Ya, I have your bag. It is in the walk-in closet in the bathroom." I nodded and thanked him.
As I grabbed the doorknob, I turned around again. By now, he too had reached the bedroom door.
"Did you have dinner? I could not help but ask." He shook his head. Why did I already know that?
"Then, I will only eat when you would.
"Okay. No problem." He grinned as he left the room.
I think he was more than happy to eat with me. I didn't mind though. After all, he had let me stay in his house. I took a very long hot shower.
Even when Adrian had covered me with a quilt, I hadn't realized but, I was shivering. After that, I got dressed into my Pokémon pyjamas and got out. I knew it was weird for a twenty-three-year-old like me to have Pokémon pyjamas, but they were pretty old and I didn't want to spend my money on new ones when I could still wear them.
I got out and headed for the door. When I got out, no one was there in sight.
"Adrian!" I called out.
"Here.", exclaimed a voice from my room.
I frowned as I made my way back to the room that Adrian had given me. As I re-entered, I now noticed that the bed sheets had changed and Adrian was on the balcony, sitting on a couch over there. I went and sat on the other end of the couch.
On the table in front of us were burgers. I loved them. I still loved them. However, they didn't look like they were bought. They were homemade. I could bet on it.
