My life is a story book,
Each chapter holds a new lesson.
Some passed on from the generation before.
Not quite a friendly fairy tale,
But, not quite a traumatic tragedy.
There has been love,
There has been loss.
My favorite character,
Ripped away too soon-
In the story of my life.
I'm working to a climax-
I am the hero in my story,
But, also my own vicious villain.
There are no wicked witches or magical wizards,
In the story of my life.
My story has creased pages and torn corners-
For those are the best parts-
The parts I wish I could reread-
But they are still alive on those pages,
Forever, in my memory.
If an editor told me to rewrite my story,
I wouldn't change a thing-
This is the story of my life.
