Chapter One: Three Boys
Klaire's POV
The sky was once again clear as the pouring rain had stopped. The clouds went back to their white and fluffy selves. The only thing different was the beautiful rainbow that appeared before my eyes. I was having a lovely time looking at it. Seeing it somehow brightened my mood.
"Move it!" someone shouted.
I tilted my head down and saw the scene in front of me.
Running towards my direction was a guy wearing a school uniform with the same school crest as mine. His eyes were darted on another guy who was making the run for it. "Get out of my way!" he shouted again. This time it was louder and was directed at me.
Unfortunately, it was too late for me to move from the spot because in a matter of seconds I am bumped into which made me lose my balance. Thus, I lied on the ground with my clothes all dirtied.
The rain might've given me a beautiful rainbow but it also caused the damp ground and being the unfortunate person that I am, I fell on a muddy puddle. Thank goodness it wasn't face first or I might've ended up as a muddy monster. Not that I need mud to make my face any worse than it already is.
"This is why I told you to get out of my way," he muttered, not even bothering to apologize.
He turned his head to the guy who he was chasing. "Aidan, you're seriously going to be in real trouble!" he yelled. The guy was about to continue the chase when I stopped him by grabbing his wrist. Momentarily startled, he stared at my hand which had a firm grip on him.
"You really aren't going to apologize!? How am I supposed to walk around the school considering the current state of my uniform?" I angrily asked.
I'm not totally a neat freak but who wouldn't want to stay as hygienic as possible.
The guy tried shaking my hand off but I wasn't planning of letting go anytime soon. "Let go of me," he demanded, "I warned you to get away but you didn't therefore it is not my fault. Your deteriorating hearing and blurring eyesight are not my problem."
I fell into mud and it had to be some jerk to bump into me. I wouldn't want to exaggerate by saying I had the worst luck ever because I'm not the one with the biggest problems in the world like having no food to eat and having no Internet connection.
"Now it's my fault? Oh ho. Let me remind you that you," I paused as I pointed at him, "bumped into me. Not the other way around."
He rolled his eyes. "I'm fully aware of that," he said but it doesn't convince me. If he truly is, then he should've repented on his actions. "It just so happens that I had to take care of an urgent matter. You could've at least cut the dramatics and let me go without any lectures."
"Urgent matter? Ha!" I laughed with dry humor. "It looked like you were just playing a good game of tag." I glared at him.
"I don't care about what you think. I just want to get this over with so could you release your grip? Your hand is crushing mine plus they're sweaty."
I narrowed my eyes at him. "I'm pretty sure that's mud not sweat," I corrected him but he frowned.
"That's a whole lot worse," he said with utter disgust.
He kept on staring at his wrist as if staring at it any longer would make me free him. I sighed. It must've worked because I ended up doing what he wanted. After I released my grip, he examined his hand. I assumed I was correct with it being mud because he scowled.
Frowning, he took out his wallet and asked, "How much?"
"Excuse me!?" The nerve of this guy. Money won't fix anything. Okay maybe with his money I could've bought plenty of stuff but I'm not desperate.
