I woke up warmer then I usually was. That was a suprise, I hadn't noticed much but the attic had been freezing and so was the car at night. I kept my eyes closed and just took in the warmth, because it felt nice. Almost like sun rays on my skin, giving me a nice tan. I opened my eyes and found myself in a field, tanning. Huh, I thought smiling. I stood up, feeling weightless and like I could touch the sky. My body stretched towards the sun like a plant, as if I needed it to live. When it shattered. The sun shattered like a glass vase or picture and flaming pieces rained down on me like hail. I screamed as a flaming shard landed on me, totally blanketing me in it's burning flames. I screamed harder and louder when the pain intensified as I melted under the shard. And that's how I woke up, screaming from the nightmare.
I was in someone's arms, and I had a blanket covering me instead of a burning shard. I screamed for a second, but then covered my own mouth. That's when I realized I was being carried by Dahvie and my arms had been around his neck. I pulled away and squirmed in his grip, trying to get down on my own since I wasn't tied down anymore except he set me down instead, playfully smiling.
"Sorry, you looked peaceful sleeping. I didn't want to wake you." He said before walking away, leaving me there. I sat up and looked at his departing figure, then I looked the other way wondering if he was letting me go, but realized that Jayy and Jeffree were approaching. I sighed, then stood up, picking up the blanket as well, and I followed Dahvie to a one-story house. I ran up behind him, and then to his side so I was walking in sync with him. He glanced at me, and then kept walking ahead.
"Where are we?" I asked.
"Los Angeles. This is where we live when we aren't on tour. Jeffree lives with us most of the time, and so do a few others, but they aren't here I don't think." Dahvie answered as we reached the door. He shoved a key in, unlocked the door, and opened the door, gesturing for me to go first. I cautiously entered and stepped back when I saw someone in what I guessed was the kitchen. I ran backwards into Dahvie and scurried forward, embarassed. I glanced at the other guy and instantly recognized him, but decided not to say anything in case I was wrong, which I usually was.
"Oh, Ronnie, hey. I thought you were on tour?" Dahvie asked, as he put the keys away and went to the fridge. He pulled out two water bottles, he opened one and threw the other one to me, which I barely caught since I had slow reflexes.
"No, that's in a couple weeks." Ronnie said quietly as he exited.
"Ronnie Radke?" I asked Dahvie with what I'm sure was a look of awe. Dahvie rolled his eyes and smiled.
"Yeah. I'm Dahvie Vanity by the way, I'm glad your like most crazed fangirls and dying inside since you've spent so much time with me," he said, playfully sarcastic as he held his hand out like we had just met and he wanted to shake hands. I gave him a weak smile and looked towards where Ronnie had gone, ignoring his hand. Dahvie pulled back and sat down at the table, taking a swig of the purified water.
"Are their any others here?" I asked and Dahvie thought for a second, before shaking his head confidently.
"What did you want to tell me in the car. About why I'm here?" I questioned as I sat down across from Dahvie. He looked down at the table for a minute, his hand clenched around the water bottle. Then he looked up at me.
"What happens to your eyes when you get pissed?" He asked and I'm pretty sure I blushed. I was suprised he knew.
"They... They turn black. Why does it matter?" I asked and he sighed like he really didn't want to tell me. That's when Jayy and Jeffree walked in, laughing. I just glared at them and then turned back to Dahvie.
"Oh my God, Jayy how the Hell am I supposed to tell her?" Dahvie asked. Jayy stopped laughing, pulled out a bottle of whiskey and looked Dahvie in the eye.
"Just say it. Rebekah's a vampire." Jayy replied as him and Jeffree walked out of the room. I rolled my eyes at what I thought was sarcasm and looked at Dahvie expectantly. Dahvie gave me a small smile.
"That was... Straight-forward. Yeah, what Jayy said. Thanks for letting her down easy!" Dahvie yelled into the room Jayy had disappeared into. There was no reply, but I could hear their voices. I thought about what Dahvie meant. All Jayy had said was I was a vampire, and I'm pretty sure he was referring to my style of clothes. So what? I didn't care what he thought about the way I dressed.
"What do you mean?" I prodded curiously, confused.
"Your a vampire Rebekah. And so are me, Jayy, Jeffree, Ronnie, and others too. Like Chris Motionless?" Dahvie offered and I felt my stomach twist painfully because I could tell by his tone of voice and his facial expression that he wasn't kidding or lying, and that made my stomach twist because I knew he was being honest which made things worse. I felt my skin crawl as well, and my ears pound along with my heart.
"That's uh... That's impossible Dahvie. Vampires drink blood, and I've never drank blood. Not even my own, and I hate red things like red popsicles or red berries. Sure I-I look like one, but I'm not. I think you got the wrong person. Oh, and I age too." I countered, then I smiled. Yeah, that's right, I wasn't a vampire. It was impossible.
"One, you don't drink blood because your not twenty yet and two, you age because you can either stop aging at twenty or continue, like us singers chose too. We couldn't be immortal cause I think it would freak out our fans if we looked the same forever." Dahvie explained. I just blinked.
"Wait, you mean I'm going to be totally a vampire when I'm twenty?! That's this year!" I yelled in suprise. My birthday was in June. And it was May. And I'm ninteen. Dahvie nodded putting his elbow on the table and pressing his left cheek into his palm like he had in the car. I gave him a pleading look.
"That's why we had to get you Rebekah, because your parents didn't do what they were supposed to. They were supposed to give you to a vampire coven last year when you turned ninteen so you would get the time you needed to prepare for the transformation, but they were selfish and had grown attached to you because you were like their houseservant, so they didn't want to give you up. We found out and had to take you before we lost any more time. We need to start preparing you tomorrow Rebekah. I know you just got here, but we can only give you one day to adjust so... Adjust." Dahvie said, as he stood up and walked out, leaving me speechless in the kitchen, trying to take it all in.
"Okaay... Then." I whispered to myself. Dahvie popped his head back in and grinned.
"I'll show you your room." Dahvie offered, and I just nodded, exiting the kitchen and following him into a living room. I saw Ronnie sitting on the couch with Jeffree (who was painting his nails hot pink?) and Jayy, watching tv, and I couldn't pass up the oppurtunity.
"Ronnie, I wanted to tell you-" I began.
"Come on Bekah, we don't have all day." Dahvie teased and embarassed, I ran out of the living room. I ran down the hallway and stepped right up to Dahvie angrily, not extremely pissed, but angry.
"I was trying to tell Ronnie how awesome his band is!" I growled and Dahvie just laughed, playful like always, making me frown.
"You saw me first so you have to tell me first," Dahvie teased before he pushed past me and showed me a black, plastic door. It was the only black door in the hallway, all the others were white.
"Yours is the black one since we wouldn't want you to accidently walk in on one of us, especially Jayy or Ronnie, cause their sorta uptight about that stuff but so yeah, were having frozen pizzas tonight, are you gonna eat?" Dahvie asked, and I just shook my head quickly. He cocked his head.
"You sure?" I nodded again and he shrugged before he walked down the hallway and into the living room to join the others and watch tv. I watched him depart and silently hoped that I would get the rest of the night to myself.
