Jameson sat in her first period class. Her head on the desk as she doodled. She was twirling her pen and humming as she day-dreamed. She was interrupted from her thoughts when the girl sitting next to her tapped her shoulder.
"Are you going to semi-formal" the girl was radiating excitement and asked with a big smile.
"I mean I wasn't planing it maybe I'll go for a while. How about you, are you going?"
"Yes, I am and I'm so excited my boyfriend asked me 10 months ago. Do you have a date?
James thought about who she could take, most of the people she knew had social calendars that probably wouldn't be free till Christmas. She decided she would just ask anybody.
"I think I'm just going to ask a friend."
"You do know that the semi- formal is the dance that determines the rest of our lives right?"
"I don't know about that but I'm just gonna go with the flow."
James was wondering why people were acting like this dance was the fricking Met Gala, which she had attended last year.
