Night Fury, a mixture of lightning and death itself. Or at least that's what the Vikings of Berk believe. They think of this every waking moment and dream of it at night. The pitch black, almost cat like dragon soaring around them and finally striking them. The lightning like bolt of blue blazing fire makes contact with you and all goes black. The Night Fury, the rare and almost extinct breed of dragon. But one thing they don't understand is, their bark is bigger then their bite.

Chapter 1

"Saru, get your foot out of my face!"

"Hey! Your kicking my tail!"

"Cut that out you bag of scales!"

4 of us. My brothers, Saru, Scratch and Scragg. Saru is the "bully" of the litter, Scratch is always finding a way to pick and poke and annoy you and then Scragg is the biggest. But though he is the largest Saru always seems to take charge. But I, the only female and runt of the group tend to say nothing. The others jump around in the nest while I still sit, struggling to get on my feet. My parents are worried about me for I'm a little... Out of proportion. I'm the smallest in a way or to but larger then the others at the same time. Over all, my body is tiny but my tail swings behind me like a snake and my wings are larger then me. Because of this I'm clumsy, extremely clumsy.

While the others fight I try to get up again. I straiten my legs. Before I get the chance to stand up straight my wings fall in front of me and I face plant into the ground. Thankfully my brothers are to distracted to notice my struggle. When I finally get up I stair down at my paws. My blue paws. Not like a dark navy blue you would expect from a night fury but more like a ocean blue. Fading into a sky like lighter blue and ending at my knees. Apparently my eyes were light blue and I had the same colours on my nose. But I know I have the same colours on the webbing on my tail as well on the edges of my wings. I've seen it way to many times when I fall over. The rest of me is black. Pitch black. Almost as black as Saru. Scratch is more of so navy colour and Scragg is the slittiest bit lighter again. All their eyes are green. It makes me stand out even more.

My father is over laying down at the edge of the cliff were the cave ends waiting for my mother's arrival. She went out to get fish. They take turns doing this, once one of them come back the other one goes. My father doesn't do much while my mother is away but soon as she comes back he's on his feet.

Half a day later my mother returns with a mouthful of fish. It may seem like a lot but when it is split I may only have half a fish and sometimes even none. My mother has to drag me out of the nest away from the others as I eat. They have stolen my meal way to many times. Just on cue my mothers navy paw comes down and lifts me out of the nest. Where she lays me their is half of a small fish. She is very successful with her fishing though I'm scared every time she leaves the nest. She has to travel past Berk, a massive island populated with Vikings to get to where she wants to go. Who knows when the time might come and she might not return. I'm not the one to normally speak so I look into my mothers blue eyes. She must understand that I'm telling her to be carful because she slowly nodes.

Shortly after father greets mother he's gone. He zips away through the sky and disappears through the clouded sky. Mother lets me stay out of the nest for the next few hours. Of course the others find this completely unfair but she wants to help me walk. I slowly stood up like I have practised before. All is going well until my wings got in the way.

I fumbled forwards then she caught me then nudged me with her nose, I stood up straight again. After a few seconds she let go. I was about to fall forwards again then she held me up. She smiled, "try to make a habit of pulling your wings back" she said gently. She breathed out and her warm breath filled me with confidence. I normally have to tens my wings thinking they might get in the way but really, I only had to relax. I did as she said and when she let go I fumbled forwards a step or two then fell down again. I don't know if that counts as walking but it was a start.

We tried again, then again and on the third attempt I finally gained my balance. Saru, Scratch and Scragg found enough time I between their endless bickering to watch. I glanced back towards the nest soon as things got strangely quiet. I seen three little heads starring over the edge of the bowl like pile of dead grass and twigs. The boys muttered among themselves and soon a fight was started up again. I turned back to face my mother. She sat a few feet away from me, smiling. I wobbled towards her and she picked me up and laid me down in the nest again. "You did good today" she said as a smile spread across her face. I smiled back and ever so quietly I said "thank you". I snuggled up all warm and cozy in the nest. "Goodnight Skyrim" said mother laying down herself. "Goodnight" I whispered back.
