The Fall of a Black Teen
Chapter 2
Wednesday
It's early, the sun has already set it's place in the morning sky . Today's Wednesday, which means it's going to busy, Falmouth will be busy because people will be coming from different parishes to sell clothes and food stuffs, ship will also be there so the crowd size will triple.
The crying of Kashief cause me to rise and the purple paint spread through the house along with the orange rays of the sun, I pull the sheet from my body and picks him up from his crib.
"Good morning, handsome," I cheer in baby voice, "How was your night?" I hold him up and his chubby face lights up from my voice. He smiles and wiggles.
I set him on my shoulder and went to the kitchen where I find mom cooking. "What're you cooking?" I scrunch up my nose and set the baby better to holds his back.
"Are you planning on looking for a job today?" She sends back while peeling the banana.
I roll my eyes and take a deep breath, will she ever ease up? "Yes, I will. As soon as I sort this baby out and have something to eat, I will" I begin to rock the baby because he's getting miserable.
I balance the baby on my left shoulder with one hand and full his bottle with water. I take a seat on a bucket in the kitchen and fix the baby in feeding position.
"I'm coming, just hold on let me fix you" I respond to his cry in a calm voice. I put the bottle in his mouth and he pull at it really hard, I have to slightly pull it out just for him not to choke.
"So where are you going to look for work?" Mom ask as she focus on cooking.
I pull my attention from Kashief and about to answer but nothing comes out, that's when I realize I don't know what kind of job to look for. I try to wrack my brain because I'm not too comfortable in working with the Chinese people, they wanna bring us back into slavery.
I heaved a sigh and pay attention to Kashief. "I don't know, I can't write resumes and applications because I'm still a student". I look at mom draining the water from the macaroni.
"You'll get something, companies always wants people for summer. As low the Chinese people, they aren't too bad" she encourage me.
I take quite a while to think about it, especially the Chinese people. "I'll see what I can get."
:TFOABT:
"Falmouth, baby?" A taxi driver shouts from up the road.
I nod and walks faster because it's days like this taxi is hard to get. People has to run to reach in taxi, but not me. Never.
I take the extreme back seat in the car because I don't like the middle seat. I plung my ear phone in my ears not wanting to hear about people daily lives.
I busied myself in my knap sack looking for god knows what when I glimpse Roger pulling in beside me, earphone still in my ears and my interest still in my bag, he nudge me on the shoulder. I pull out my ear phone and look at him.
"Where are you running to?" He seeks with little interest.
"Nowhere where it's your problem" I breath out looking out the window. People going in and out of Glendas supermarket, taxis parking on either sides of the road while others are busy talking. Out side is hot, too hot so in this taxi is my safe haven right now only if this moron wasn't beside me, it would've been perfect.
