The Fall of a Black Teen
I sat sprawled out on the floor of my veranda listening to some music, the evening wind felt cool on my skin as the up beat music puts me in a good mood. I rock side by side while fumbling with the words of the song.
The rest of the week went by pretty smooth and I'm happy that it did. Life is too short to waste it on anything but.
I look in the sky and see that the sun is not in the same spot, it's 4:17 pm now so the sun is not so hot. I curl my legs under my thighs and watched the people passing by, scammers on their phones talking in languages they made up because in reality, that's not English to begin with. I'm not saying what they're doing is a hundred percent wrong, but come on do it privately.
I shake my head and let out a sigh of 'I don't know' when I felt a tap on my shoulders, I turn my head to see that it was mom, I took the ear plugs out when she kept quiet.
"Yes?" I questioned with a raised eyebrow. Music still blasting through the ear plugs.
"Come and tidy the child. He needs feeding as well" she warns with a sterns voice. I got up and follow her back into the house where Kashief was laying on the small bed in the hall making baby noises.
I cooed at him earning a warm felt laugh. I pick him up and he grips the neck of my blouse, I hug him tightly and he lets out a deep breath, I plunge my lips on his fat soft cheek. I love him more than anything in this world.
"You're going to let time catch up on you and the baby isn't tidied?" I hear mothers voice beside me. For a split second I forgot she was in tbe room, I scurried away and sort the baby out putting on his warm clothes and made a warm fresh bottle of feeding for him. This is what I love about him, he hardly cries so if mother gets a job his nanny or his other grand parents has nothing to worry about.
I place him back on the bed after I allowed him to burp. His fever is gone which I'm thankful for. I went back outside by the shouting of my name, these people doesn't know when to keep quiet.
"Kathy!" I heard someone bellows. I huff and went back outside. "Kathy!" I stand in the door way looking at my couple months ago friends.
"What'd y'all want?" I push back while leaning on the rails of the veranda. Ajay waves me over to come to him.
"It better be something good" I breathe as I reach in front him. His tall figure towering over me leaving me facing his chest. I step back a little. "What?" I folded my arms.
"A little party is will be held in my street later, you coming?" He raised an eyebrow at me.
I rolled my eyes wondering when will he or they give up that I'm done with those things. "No, I'm not coming" I made to walk off when he grab a hold of my hand. I look at hand then his face, I can see that he's begging me with his eyes. "Stephanie will be there and besides you haven't been out since you had baby, he's what like what two months? C'mon lighten up" he encouraged.
I looked at him. Thinking about what he said and he's kinda right. I haven't had fun in a while now, so why hold back? "I won't be drinking nor smoking" I love left him out there lighting his weed.
"We'll see about that" he chirps. I stick out my middle finger at him then close the door.
