Chasing Addi

Best Friends Since Freshman Year

I've known Addi since my Freshman year of high school. She was, of course, surrounded by a group of guys. It was understandable to why she was.

Addi's gorgeous. With her bright blue/grey eyes and long, dirty blonde hair, she was every guy's dream girl. Not to mention she was one of the sweetest, most caring girls you'd ever meet.

By about Sophomore year, she had a senior boyfriend, Talon Clarke; Quarter back of the football team. Yeah, cliche. The hot girl gets the quarter back.

He was certainly no good for her though. He got Addi to do all these things behind her parents backs and of course she felt totally guilty. It's who she is. She's such a goody-good. But the worst part, he was Addi's first kiss. Sure, she had guys swarming her since the 5th grade! But not once had she kissed any of them. She wanted to save it for someone special. And I guess in her opinion... The star quarter back of Talico High School was the one.

Anyway, back to how I met her. I was walking to chemistry when I saw her trying to hang a poster for yearbook. So being a good guy, I helped her. From then on she started talking to me every time we saw each other, which was a lot being that we had about four classes together. Eventually, we became best friends.

"Aiden! Stop eating my fries, ya bum!" Addi absolutely loves fries. I'm seriously surprised she isn't fat from how often she eats them.

"Well you never share," I protested. "It wouldn't hurt you to let me eat the crispy ones that you always save for last because 'they aren't as good as the soggy ones.'" I mocked.

Addi gave me a teasing glare. "Fine, here," she handed me the remaining fries In the large McDonald's fry box. "But don't go telling all your little friends that I've been giving away my fries. It might start a revolution."

I couldn't help but laugh. Something I absolutely loved about Addi was her bubbly, teasing personality. Even when she had every reason to be glum, she still went out of her way to plaster a beautiful smile on her porcelain face and try to make people smile.

"So can you come over and help me with Elli tomorrow night. My moms going out and I really don't want to have to watch her by myself."

"Babysitting your little sister on a Friday night again. Totally the ideal weekend fiasco." I joked teasingly.

"Yeah, yeah. But you know how much I looooove making you entertain the darn ten-year-old while I text Brayden." She said with a wink.

Brayden was the guy Addi had been crushing on so far all of junior year. He was the only guy that hadn't jumped at the chance to date Addilynn Taylor. I guess that's why she's been so into him, because he doesn't give her the time of day when it isn't convenient for him. He wasn't like all the other guys that just went for her to try and get into her pants. He was worse. He only talked to her when he wanted a make out buddy.

"Ya know, Addi... What if one of these times Brayden tries to take it further than make out with you?" I asked. "What if he pushes things?"

She hesitated for a minute, pondering the question. "Well... I'd say no, of course. You of all people know I'm not that kind of girl. But, he wouldn't. Brayden's... Different." She smiled contently.

"Okay," I said in a casual tone, letting the conversation go. I did know Addi well enough to know she would straight off tell the guy no to sex. She was just good that way. It's why she had gone through so many jerkish boyfriends the past three years of high school.

As the bell rang, both Addi and I stood up and hugged as we always did after lunch.

"I'll see you after school," she smiled at me and I couldn't help but look into those big eyes. She was just absolutely beautiful in every way possible.

"Yeah," I quickly agreed, shrugging off the hypnotizing moment that I often got while talking to her. "I'll meet you by my car."

She nodded and scurried off, while her long blonde pony tail wagged behind her.
