Stacey's water had just broke in the middle of a co-op in the frozen foods aisle. Mick, Stacey's husband drove quickly to pick her up but not almost as quick as the cleaner, placing the "caution wet floor" sign on the floor.
As they arrived at the hospital Stacey could feel the pressure of the baby's head, begging to come out. She was immediately rushed to a white bed. Within 7 long hours of labour that felt like 2 lifetimes, the baby started to come out. The head was a struggle to get out but the rest of the body just slipped out like a bobsled on a ramp. The midwife and Mick were overjoyed by this bloodied newborn entering the world but this shortly ended as Stacey lied there broken, bleeding and unconscious. The midwife, having some experience, immediately called for a doctor however doctors were at a shortage at the time meanwhile the baby was being washed and cared for by the midwife. By the time one came, Stacey had already died. Mick now felt as if God himself placed his mighty palms on his shoulders and pushed him towards the ground. The sadness of losing a loved one added with the growing responsibility of looking after a child by himself mixed in with a pinch of anger from the doctor not coming soon enough, made a devastating cake. As Mick sat drowning in his silent rage while the doctor attempted at an apology, the midwife, in all the chaos, forgot to check the baby properly so she missed the fact that the newborn had three testicles.
