A knock rung from inside of my apartment. She's here, I thought. I walked over to the door, mustering up a small smile, and opened it. Phillipa smiled back generously, walked in when I stepped out of the doorway, and looked around my currently messy living space. "Sorry about the mess." An embarrassed mutter rung out from me. "Don't stress it, it's not like mine isn't in the same condition."
"You just seem like a very clean person." Pippa giggled. "Appearances can trick you, remember this." I playfully roll my eyes and closed the door, turning on the lights. Phillipa holds up a gallon of ice cream. "This is one of the reasons that you're my friend." I took the gallon from her and set it down on the countertop, taking out two large spoons from the utensil drawer; handing one to the shining woman across from me. "What do you want to watch?" I gesture to the television across the room. "I don't care, let's watch what you want to watch."
"Do you watch any comedic shows?" Pippa smiles and nods. "Yes I do, you get to choose though." She continues to press. Stubborn. I thought while choosing a show that I've never seen pop up for a suggestion. The shining woman across me starts to giggle. "Is anything wrong with my pick?" She shakes her head, a subtle blush on her cheeks. "No, it's just," she pauses to find the right words, "dirty humor?" I grin and begin to tease her. "Pippa, you shouldn't be watching this, I shouldn't either cause I don't know what you could do to me."
"Be quiet, just watch it." Phillipa demands with her cheeks are bright red. "Is someone embarrassed?" I said in a teasing tone and placed my hand on her shoulder, causing her to flinch. "Maybe." I laughed– very satisfied with my deed– and grabbed the ice cream gallon, heading over to the couch.
Throughout the show, I practically couldn't pay attention, Pippa had been laughing her ass off, and damn is that laugh cute. "(Y/n), are you alright?" She paused the show, worried more than she should be. "What are you thinking about?" I felt myself heat up in embarrassment. "I'm fine and," I paused, trying to move around the situation; I couldn't, "I was thinking about you." Pippa gleamed. "That's so sweet!"
"I guess so, and just how you see it?" I started to question my own words. "I saw it in one of the best ways, friendship!" She says joyfully, yeah friendship, that's all we'll ever be; friends. I was disgusted with my thoughts, but I made sure to keep a straight face before I got questioned again. "Let's keep watching." Phillipa rests her head on my shoulder.
Again, I couldn't pay attention, it felt like I was being emotionally tortured. I felt my body suddenly jolt up against my will, and led me to the bathroom. I can't handle this pang in my heart, she only wants to be friends. I sat down on the edge of the bathtub. "(Y/n), you aren't fine, please tell me what's wrong." A sigh escaped from my lips. "I don't really want to because I feel like it'll affect our relationship."
"It won't, I'll help with whatever is bothering you." I took a deep breath. "Pip, I really like you." I got up and opened the door to see her reaction. She stood there motionless, as if she was trying to process what I had said. "More than-," I cut her , off. "Yes. I, (Y/n) Ramos, likes you, Phillipa Soo, more than friends." Pippa remained in silence, but she took my hands in hers. "Pippa?" She briskly pulls me into a hug and begins to stroke my hair. "This would never ruin our relationship," she pauses, "But it'll only make it better."
I was at a loss for words when she had said that. "And no, I'm not just saying that because I'm sparing your feelings." Pippa took a breath in. "I like you too, ever since our first staring contest." We both begin to laugh our asses off.
At midnight, no words were spoke, no shows were playing, and no noises were made. Phillipa and I cuddled for the night, she was already asleep, therefore I was not. I never went to sleep this early, usually it was around five, and I get— at the most— two hours of sleep.
A noise suddenly rung out into my apartment, my phone receiving a phone call. I got up, trying not to disturb Pippa, and answered. "Hello?" There was a muffled clatter in the background. "(Y/n), please come get me." A feminine voice pleaded from the other line. "Jasmine? Are you okay? Do you need me to come get you?" A shaky sigh rang through my ear. "Where are you?" She quietly gave me the address and hung up.
I quickly wrote a note to Pip if she ever woke up, and I threw on some shoes, running out of the apartment. What had happened? I threw myself in the car and inserted the address into the GPS, scurrying over.
Once I reached the destination, I unlocked the car, and let Jasmine in. "What happened?" I drove off as she let out a shaky sigh. "I almost got raped, I escaped before anything had escalated further than being forced against a wall." I nodded. "I'm taking you to my apartment, you need to get some rest." The curly-haired woman glanced at me with her eyebrows furrowed. "Isn't Pippa there?"
"If she was, how do you know?" I asked skeptically. "It's on her Instagram." She laughed. "Oh, well you can take up the guest room, I would suggest my room, but I let Pippa sleep in there, if you need anything, I'll be on the couch." I informed her, parking the car in it's usual parking space. "Why are you gonna be on the couch?"
"I don't go to sleep until five. I've gotten used to having two hours of sleep." Jasmine grabs my shoulders as we both emerge from the car. "Dude! You need to get the fuck to sleep man."
We both walk into my apartment and I lead her to the guest room. "Remember, if you need anything, I'm here." I walked out and into my room, noticing Pippa on her phone. "Who else is here?" I closed the door. "Jasmine, she's had a rough night."
"What happened?" I lay down next to her and wrap my arms around her petite figure, "I think she'll want to tell you herself." I muttered. I kissed her forehead and slowly fell asleep.
