Xia, Renjun, Jisung and Felix were in Renjun's car on the way to Jeno's house because his parents weren't home and so he was hosting the party for winning the basketball game. Hyunjin invited the three guys but he was driving there with the rest of his team.
When they neared his place, Xia's jaw dropped.
"His house is fucking huge!" she exclaimed staring at the three storey building with a Volkswagen and Jaguar parked in the open garage.
Jisung - who was sitting with her in the back - laughed. "You'd be surprised by how many rich bitches we have in our school."
"Really? Like who?" Xia wondered.
"Like that whole group," Felix piped up. "Jeno, Jaemin, Mark and Yeri."
"Yeah that's Yeri's house right there," Jisung pointed to the house right across the street.
Looking at the big houses around the neighborhood, Xia couldn't help but feel a little envious of how nice they were.
Renjun looked at her in the rear view mirror. "I know that look Xia," he called her out. "Our apartment is perfectly good for us."
Xia rolled her eyes and got out of the car. The other two looked surprised. "Wait, you two live alone?" Felix asked.
"Yup, our parents still live in China," Renjun explained. "They're super adamant about us being independent so they sent us abroad."
Meanwhile, Xia wasn't paying attention to the others nor did she have any desire to wait for them. She just wanted to get inside find Jeno. Before she even reached the door, she could already hear music blasting. She peeked inside the window and saw that there were already a lot of people there. They were a little late because Jisung wanted to stop for ice cream.
Pushing open the door, she shyly went inside. Not knowing where to go or what to do, she just walked through the front hall and pushed her way through all the people unknown to her. The music was really loud, and the whole house was dark, only lit by disco lights, which somehow still provided enough light to see pretty clearly.
Maybe I should've waited for the others she thought, feeling very lost.
Just as she was about to go back and look for Renjun, Jisung or Felix, she felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned around to see Mark standing there, smiling at her.
"Hey," he greeted her.
"Hi..." she replied slowly, wondering why he approached her.
"Uh... can I, um, talk to you for a second?" he requested. Xia nodded but didn't move. "I meant somewhere else."
He led her to the kitchen where there weren't too many people.
"What's up?" she asked him, curiousity killing her on the inside.
Mark coughed awkwardly. "Um, were you serious when you said Donghyuck uhh you know, likes me?" he reluctantly questioned her.
Xia could feel herself start to blush with embarrassment at the thought that she revealed Haechan's secret.
"Yeah, but please don't think he's weird or anything," she pleaded frantically. "You can't control who you fall for."
Shaking his head, Mark went and got a glass of water for her to calm down. "I don't think he's weird," he assured her, handing her the glass, which she accepted gratefully. "I just wanted to know if you were kidding or not."
At that moment, Xia saw Jeno walking up to them over Mark's shoulder. She couldn't really control her smile.
"Xia, I'm glad you came!" he exclaimed when he reached them.
"And that's my cue to leave," Mark said, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively at Jeno, who in turn shoved his friend away from them.
Once Mark left, Jeno turned back to Xia. "Wanna go dance?" he offered.
"Boy, do I look like I'm the kind of person who even comes to parties, forget dancing at them." Xia declined.
"C'mon, please?" he tried again. "Why would you go to a party and not dance?"
"Please don't force me to," Xia asked him, looking down at the floor. She was really conscious of her dancing. The one time she did it back in China, she looked like a potato compared to her friends, and she got called out for it by a lot of people. That's a major reason she avoids parties. She came to this only because Jeno asked her to.
He looked kind of disappointed (or was he annoyed?) but he didn't push it further. "I wish you could've worn something cuter," he commented.
Xia raised her eyebrows at him. "I didn't even go home."
"No, not that you don't look great in this," he hastily added. "I thought you went home which is why you got late, so I was surprised you didn't change."
Xia explained that they stopped for ice cream before coming here, after which Jeno seemed to understand, luckily.
He then took her to the living room to show her around. However, he was spotted by some of his friends who wanted to hang out with him. Leaving her on one of the couches, he disappeared with the guys who dragged him outside where some of them were playing basketball even though they just returned from a basketball game.
Sighing, Xia took out her phone to call Renjun. Just as she was about to dial his number, she heard someone say hi to her. She looked up and to her surprise, saw Jaemin standing in front of her.
"Mind if I sit down?" he asked.
Xia blinked, wondering why the guy who seemed to dislike her for no reason was asking to sit with her.
"I'm just gonna sit," Jaemin said awkwardly, when she didn't reply.
She just blankly stared at him once he was seated next to her.
Why am I actually nervous over what he'll say to me? her thoughts raced. Probably because it'll be mean anyway.
Jaemin, sensing that she was confused, decided to get to the point.
"Okay listen, no offense, but..." he started rather hesitantly. "I don't think you should trust Jeno, let alone develop feelings for him."
"What the hell?"
