"Thank you Braeden, for helping us get Derek back to normal." Scott said to her.
"Yeah if it wasn't for you Derek would probably be dead right about now." Stiles added, in return receiving a glare from Derek.
"You could have totally gotten out of there yourself, well not really. Technically she did save your life again, what is that like 3 times n-" Stiles rambled.
"Stiles." Scott said, cutting him off.
Derek cut his glare short, his eyes going from Scott and Stiles to Braeden.
"Give us a minute?" Derek said.
"OH, yeah. Okay, yeah sure man. We'll be right outside." Scott said.
"We're not going to stay and list-" Stiles started.
"Shut up!" Scott shushed him.
As soon as the boys left the room, Derek's eyes went right back to Braeden.
The room was silent for awhile until Derek stood up and walked towards her.
"Is there a real reason why I'm still standing here?" She asked.
"I just want to know something." He told her.
"Why me. Why do you always save me?"
"I do whatever gives the highest payout, and for some reason people pay really good money for you." She said coldly.
"So that's all I am to you, a paycheck?" He asked, inching towards her.
"What do you expect me to say Derek?" She questioned back, staring into his eyes.
"Say something." His hands rested on her waist pulling her close to him.
"No. NO" She said, snaking out from his grip on her.
"We cant. You and I cant do this. We cant have a relationship. What are we going to do? Go to dinner and movies all the time? Get married, have a bunch of kids and ride off into the sunset together? That's not the kind of life we live. You have to be realistic." Her voice shook, as the words rolled off her tongue.
"So you do care?" He questioned.
"I don't have to listen to this." She said, making her way towards the exit.
Derek caught her before she could leave, grabbing her by the arm he loced eyes with her.
"Look me in the eye and tell me that I'm just another job." He said, his lips dangerously close to hers.
"Derek, you're being ridiculous." She told him.
"You want me." He taunted.
"What?" She asked.
"You heard me Braeden. You want me." He said.
"I have no idea what you're talking about." She shook her head.
"You actually care what happens to me. I'm more than just a job to you. You care about m-"
"I CANT AFFORD TO CARE." She yelled, tears stinging her eyes.
She composed herself, straightening her leather jacket. She took a few seconds to regroup and pull herself together before speaking again.
"I cannot afford to care about anyone. Especially someone like you. I'm a killer, you're a wolf. You dont wa-"
"We dont have to figure anything out right now. We can throw all that away, all the shit from our past, the shit from our present. We can pretend, okay? We can pretend that we arent connected to the supernatural world. We can pretend that we dont have any responsibilities. We can-" He stopped himself, and just sighed.
"Just stay here .... Pretend with me." His soft eyes begged her.
"How long is this pretending going to last?" She asked, cracking a small smile.
A huge smile spread across his face. Derek pulled Braeden into his arms and kissed her, both of them fighting for dominance.
"YESSSS!" Scott and Stiles came in screaming.
"I KNEW IT! I TOLD YOU IT WOULD WORK OUT DIDNT I?" Stiles yelled.
"You owe me five bucks." Stiles added.
"You guys bet on us?" Braeden asked.
"If it makes you feel any better, we can join in on the pretending and just like pretend that we have money for the pizzas that we just ordered." Scott laughed.
"I swear you guys are going to be the death of us." Braeden smiled.
