September 3 - 11, 1992
The week has come and gone as the first years adjust to their new life at Hogwarts. All of the first year students especially Gryffindors-dread fridays with Professor Snape for double potions. Even though they've only experienced one with him so far. He constantly looking over their shoulders making them nervous and poor Neville can never get a break. Accidentally blowing up a potion and having him sent to the hospital wing. Harry and Ron trying to do Snape's impossible homework. Shikadai and Rose helping the twins along with Jordan keep tabs on the potion... Shikadai has also been enjoying listening to Rose's voice ever other night. As Hermione keeps gathering house points for Gryffindor but also being secretly teased by her fellow classmates. Which Rose glare their ass down and reassures the girl about her smarts. Malfoy continues to brag in class knowing how to ride a broom and everything. And always showing off what his Mother has sent him from home trying to make Harry jealous.
But as the week went on in to the next. Shikadai starts to notice something about Rose. She doesn't talk with anyone else in her grade. Heck no one else in Gryffindor house. Only the twins, Jordan, himself, Harry, Ron and Hermione, but only when they start the conversation first. She doesn't seem to have any other friends. When she's alone she get this long set off stare. Like remembering something..... Shikadai was honestly worried about Rose but Fred and George says it's normal...saying she's like this sometimes and just to leave her be. So he doesn't ask her anything. Just waits for her to start.
He secretly continues to look through the Black family. Wishing to know more about the magical social structure and also why Rose is like this. Looking at the family tree he notices-she's related to the Weasley's, Malfoy's and Potter's. Also that another member of her family was sent to prison as well. Azkaban: The Wizarding prison for murdering two other family members.
Yet, as the second week begins. It was confirmed, she did break a fifth year Slytherin girl's nose on the first day. But she only got a day of detention because she was provoked. It would explain her absence in the common room Saturday night. He remembers not seeing her all Sunday as well tell she came to potions class Monday with her hand wrapped up and a gash above her eyebrow on the left side. She says it was a practice dueling match gone wrong and that she was fine. She always says she's fine when clearly she's not. Her fake smile couldn't cover her saddened eyes. Yet, he didn't push it. But he believes he may have to soon.
September 12, 1991
Shikadai's POV
I wake up to Ron shaking me violently. I open my eyes and glare at him.
"Come on, Shikadai! Me and Harry will go on ahead to breakfast. You hurry up." Ron says as both of them rush out of the room. I lazily put on my uniform and head down. About be to walk into the common room. From the steps; I see Rose on the couch as I could tell she's laying down. I walk quietly behind her to see she's asleep. Long dark eyelashes, calm deep breathing, messy hair in a ponytail and not full messy uniform. I chuckle as I flick her softly on the head.
"And you scold me for falling asleep in Potions." I smile as she glares at me.
"That's in class. This *yawn* is the common room." She says getting up. Fixing her clothes we walk down to breakfast. This has become some sort of habit of ours. Also going to the old gryffindor tower for practice. It's nice. We walk over to Harry and Ron to sit as the twins snicker.
Rose smiles but ignores them sitting down to eat as do I.
