Never "We"

I was always afraid to fall,
But you didn't care at all.
Once I did, I was forced to crawl.
I got as far as I could, but only met a wall.

The only thing you ever brought me was shame.
I said I would wait, but you never came.
I was never a match for your so-called "fame".
After all, you always called me "lame"

All this time, I've been forced to see
What there was between you and me.
Now, I can finally be free.
There never really was a "we"
