"Hey, Dad, I'm going to go check out the rest of the apartment." I call into my dad's room.

"Okay sport, have fun." My dad said, trying to force a cheerful tone. Ever since mom died, he's been trying really hard to stay happy for me.

After I look through all the floors, I decide to talk to a janitor, a woman mopping the floors. She looked really tired, but managed a smile when she saw me.

"Hello kiddo. How can I help you?" She asks me sweetly.

"What do you know about this place?" I ask, rocking back and forth on my heels and toes.

"Oh, everything! I live here, so it's hard not to know what's going on. Everyone says it's haunted, even my son, but it's a beautiful place. I know you'll like it here." She says, leaning on her mop.

"You have a son?" I ask, excited to make a new friend, that is, if they like me."

"Yep! He's around your age, 16. I think you two would be good friends. Here's an extra key to the basement if you want to meet him." She smiles, handing me a keycard. I thank her, and head off towards the basement.

When I get into the basement, I'm a little surprised. It was really tidy and smelled like detergent, which makes sense since the washing machine was down here. I use the keycard again to open Lisa's apartment, which was very nice.

I find a door covered with metal band stickers and a 'KEEP OUT' sign, and assume that was Larry's. I'm glad he likes metal, too. I knock three times, the last one a bit harder since I heard metal music in the room.

"Oh, sorry mom, I thought you were working. I was-" The door opens, and a guy a foot taller than me with long brown hair stares at me, and jumps. "Woah! Halloween already?" He asks, stepping back to let me in his room.

"Uhh, no, your mom said I could visit you. I'm Sal, my friends call me Sally Face." I scratch my head awkwardly, not knowing how to act around new people. Especially hot ones, too. Larry had a sharp jaw line and a strong build, I bet he could drop kick me through the window.

"Well, nice to meet you Sal. I like your mask." Larry says, holding out a pale hand for me to shake. I take his firm, warm hand in my small one.

"It's a prosthetic." I say glumly, looking away. I hated my mask, but I guess it was better than nothing. Larry's smile quickly faded.

"Shit, I'm sorry little bro. It really is cool though. Really brings out your eyes." He says, blushing a bit. I blush, too, and we both stand there awkwardly.

"So, you like metal?" Larry asks.

"Hell yeah." I say, getting pumped. Larry chuckles, and turns up some metal. We both head bang for a couple minutes until Larry bumps into me, causing me to fall on the couch and him on top of me.

We both stare at each other, our breathing in sync. Larry bits his lip, looking me up and down.

I chuckle nervously, propping myself up on the couch arm and sitting up to face him.

"I, uh, I think my dad is waiting for me." I say, getting up to leave. Larry grabs my wrist.

"Wait-" Larry says, turning me around to face him. "-will you come over tomorrow and... I don't know... Have a sleepover?" He asks, brushing his long, slightly greasy hair out of the way. I nod, smiling.

"See ya later, Larry."

"See ya, Sally Face."
