Hi, my name is Seed. And this, is my story.

-----
I jolted awake to the sound of birds chirping and a cat snoring in my ear. It was a peaceful morning so far as any cat would say, but not when you are waking up from a nightmare.
When you wake up from a nightmare, the sunlight is too bright, the chirping and snoring is too loud, you can feel your heart beating in your chest... and for a split second... you don't know what's real. Only because just a moment ago you were being chased, or stalked, or clawed to death...or in my case you were watching your mother die in many different ways.
Your own mother. And you were crying and screaming at her because you couldn't do anything, 'cause you were frozen; in time and space and you were surrounded by darkness that just kept growing, growing, and growing. So you ran, or at least you tried. And you kept running, and running, and runn-

"Another nightmare?"
"Yeah...", the sigh rolled off my tongue, in fact it rolled off so easily that any cat could be able to tell that the sigh had escaped my mouth so many times before; that it was not strange, or foreign, or different. It was so familiar that maybe one would might even call it a friend...which was something it most definitely was not.
"I'm sorry Seed."
"No, don't be, it's not your fault Dame."
The cat who had been snoring in my ear grumbled, "Shush, I'm tryna sleep."
I nipped at Charcoal, who groaned again.
"Get up lazy!" I hissed in his ear, making the black tom jump up and glare at me. Dame giggled as I smirked, Charcoal shaking moss off his pelt.
He padded to the other side of our cave, his jaw opened wide as a yawn escaped his mouth. There was another groan next to me as Nimb woke up. I stood up and walked over to Dame, who is my best friend in the whole forest.

"Hunt with me?", The black and white she-cat smiled, her eyes grew bright. I grinned and walked out the cave entrance.
"Duh silly, lets go!"
She followed me outside and I opened my mouth, taking a deep breath; taking in the fresh morning forest air. Dame looked around at the trees above us and started climbing the small slope of rocks right outside the cave. I scrambled after her, stepping on one rock and jumping over two others to get to the top, skidding as my pads scraped against the rough ground below me. Dame came up right behind me and looked me in the eyes with a mischievous stare.
"Race ya to the great oak!?"
I grinned as she started to run in the direction of the old, big oak tree.
"Oh it's on!" I called after her and started running to the oak, just a bit behind the she-cat.

I pumped my legs, determined on beating her there. I cleared a fallen branch in one swift bound, as Dame had tripped over it. Laughing at my clumsy friend I made my way to the above ground roots of the great oak, which was probably more 5 million moons old. I stopped and caught my breath, sitting at the bottom of the tree, waiting for Dame; who came running up to me not long after, panting heavily.
"No fair!", She panted, "That branch wasn't there last time!"
I grinned and shook my head, "That's why  you have to pay attention to your surroundings."
Dame rolled her eyes, "Don't speak to me like i'm a kit learning to hunt Seed." She said, sitting next to me.
I rolled my eyes in response and licked her ear, "Whatever you say."
She looked me in the eyes, a moment of silence, and we both broke down laughing.

I'm so glad Dame came into my life...
