Chapter 6:

The days passed slowly for Alexis after her memorable Saturday night.

Meredith had woken up the next morning with a terrible hangover, which she had to quickly conceal in front of her parents.

And around 9am, Mike was already knocking on the Shull's front door to take Alexis home. She had figured that was going to happen. Even though she had managed to get away Saturday night without her father finding out didn't mean she was entirely off the hook.

Throughout the week, even though her brothers were home, they were less present than ever, leaving Alexis to spend her 'family' time with her mother and her two sister-in-laws.

Her mother and both Bree and Ellie were very excited as they completed the final arrangements for Alexis' eighteenth birthday party on Friday, but Alexis found herself distracted from all the fun.

And that was simply because her mind was in other places.

She often wondered that maybe if she could have heard Sonny's voice that she would have recognized him. Of course it would have been a long shot, but it was definietly worth the curiosity.

She also wondered if Sonny was going to bring up Saturday's incident when they finally met one another. She found the entire situation to be embarrassing. She felt like she would be scolded like a child by a boy who was merely only a few years older than herself.

Who gave him that right? Oh yeah, the fucking Mafia. Alexis mentally rolled her eyes.

And so here it was. Friday June 19th. Alexis' eighteenth birthday. Invitations had been sent, the cake had been delivered, the entertainment had been hired, and the dress had been shipped all the way from Italy where it now hung on the back of Alexis' bathroom door.

Family, friends, and allies of all sorts from different parts of the world would be attending most definitely. Everybody wanted to see the man who would be lucky enough to have the charming and beautiful Alexis Emmalene Radley.

But nobody wanted to know more than Alexis herself.

"I don't think I want to know how much this costs." Meredith spoke as she eyed the pinkish purple dress that still hung in its clear bag.

"Trust me, you don't." Alexis smiled to her friend as she sat on her bed flipping through a magazine.

"How can you be so calm?" Meredith asked, walking over to Alexis' bed and perching herself down on the end of it.

Alexis shrugged in response, flipping yet another page.

"If I were about to meet the man I would have to spend the rest of my life with, I would be a nervous wreck." Meredith confessed tilting her head to the side.

"That's exactly what I'm trying to avoid." Alexis sighed before closing the magazine and tossing it onto the floor.

"So how is this going to happen? How are you going to meet him?" Meredith asked, sitting up further onto the bed.

Alexis shrugged once more. "I really don't know. It's always different. It's however he wants to do it. When Andrew was meeting Bree for the first time, he followed her all the way down the steps at her entrance and then tapped on her shoulder from behind once she had reached the floor. Ben simply cut in while Ellie was dancing with her father and was all like: Hey, it's me."

Meredith smiled a little. "Yeah, I never put much faith into Ben being very clever with words."

Alexis giggled slightly before Meredith began to talk again. "Maybe it's just because I didn't grow up in this world like you did, but I would be totally uncomfortable with all of this. It's practically an arranged marriage. You have no other choice but to pray that one day you can fall in love with the guy."
