School today was the same 'ol-same 'ol.

Just walk right in, scribble notes, locking stares at the Timex clock, drumming fingertips, daydreaming, sitting alone when there were no classes with my friends, and take tests. Until lunch finally came, which I always anxiously awaited for. I would always meet Jade at our locker hall and go off campus at a cafe.

Today, the four of us headed out to Mimi's, a healthy bakery where it was mainly filled with fruit pastries and handmade smoothies. There we met up with Gabe and Beckett, whom showed up a little late. It didn't matter much since we had two hours of lunch and free time. (oh the benefits of a small-town school)

"Hey Lindy, hey Jade-y!" A familiar voice called from afar. Outside the shop, the boys caught up with us, where we had a mini chit chat before heading in (except Gabriel who was having a smoke and a Hostess Snowball cake.)

"After you, ladies." The doorbell chimed as we stepped in to the empty shop. There was a young girl (in her early twenties possibly) playing on her Nintendo DS at peace. Once she spotted us, she shut her device, somehow embarrassed.

"Ahm, tch. What c-can I get you kids today?" she asked.

So many choices. I loved this shop, really, so decision time was a toughie. Jade toyed with her obnoxiously blonde locks (she was naturally born with black hair, and it was a spun-gold color tone. Like Rumplestilskin's golden thread) and Beckett just gave me the "I got it" glance.

"Eh. We will all split the breakfast pastry special and I'd like a two small Blueberry and Mango smoothies, and a large Breakfast Blend smoothie."

"14.96". The lady's hand was awfully ice cold. Poor thing better be paid extra, spending her ass standing in an empty bakery half the day. "Have a seat at an open booth, please." She demanded.

We all slid into a booth, Jade and I on one side as Beckett sat on the opposite side, scooting as Gabriel came in. What we all despised about him was how he lingered of a light, cigarette-smoke odor. But it wasn't repelling, it was..smooth. He was sarcastic and wise, so those are good pros.

The waitress came with our plate and left, so we all dug in like the skinny pigs we were.

"So my mom's gonna let you guys stay over tonight. She works late. " Beckett said, while slurping down our shared smoothie. A disgusted Jade wiped his breadcrumbs off her face. "Sorry ma'am. So..how's everyone?"

Our responses were blunt. "Good" "Usual" "Okay, I guess..", I spoke.

"What's wrong?" Gabe asked. With piercing butterscotch eyes, you cannot deny that smartass.

This was the part I absolutely hated. What I wanted to say, was "Oh, so now you ask? I hate my life, my mom and sister are family members from hell, I have only a few friends, Beckett has a newfound 'fan', and I must end it all. Fuck you guys, I'm flying solo". But after some thought, I managed a smile on my face and responded, "Great! And yours?"

His priceless face was dumbstruck. Mister Spike Spiegel rolled his eyes and shook his head. "Listen Lindy, let's just have a nice talk instead. 'lright?"

I glanced over to my left to find Jade and Beckett deep into conversation and their lunch, having a great carefree time. Gabe gave me "the look", so we stood up and left to go to the cafe's back alley.
