"No!" A man shouted, slamming his fist on the table. "No, no, NO! This is unacceptable! A 2 out of 100?! Kyle, are you mad?!" He exclaimed to his son, Kyle, who simply rolled his eyes in disgust and pretended not to care.

"Your mother and I have worked so hard, trying to help you understand your lessons, and this is the result?!" He waved the test paper harshly in front his son's face. "This is not to be tolerated, Kyle and you know that! How will you do during the big exams, then?? His face suddenly had a flash of worry that mixed with his anger.

"How about I just fail the big exams like I fail everything else?" Kyle retorted arrogantly.

His father leaned in closer to his face. "You know that's not an option." His voice was stern but slowly becoming calm.

"You don't say, Dad. It's not like the world gave us a lot of options anyway." He chuckled at his own wittiness. Unfortunately, his father wasn't impressed.

"Here's what we're gonna do." He said, his voice so low that what he said became a whisper. "You're gonna go to your room, you're gonna hit the books, you're gonna study every lesson---and yes, every lesson---that you learned in school from the very first day to present time, and during the weekend, we're going to sign you up at a learning facility so someone can help you."

Kyle suddenly became shocked. "Learning facility? During the weekend?? No, I don't wanna go! I don't even need help!"

"Your grades and I beg to differ. Also, you won't be able to use any electronics for a whole--" He paused, tapping his chin, thinking. He looked back at his son. "---month. I'll need to confiscate your phone and your laptop."

This conversation had suddenly become too much for Kyle. He stood up angrily. "I don't need help and I certainly don't want a tutor!" He shouted. "I just want to enjoy my weekend, like normal 11-year-olds!"

His father stood up and raised his voice as well. "Well, your education is more important than your relaxation time! The way I see it, you just lost your weekend rights!"

"That's not fair!" Kyle shot back. He can feel his throat burning up and his eyes slowly filling up with tears.

"It is so!" roared his father. "Now, go to your room."

"Dad---"

"Your room! NOW!" He pointed towards the staircase.

At this point, Kyle was on the verge of crying. He hated his parents seeing him ball his eyes out, so he turned around and ran upstairs. He sprinted towards the end of the hallway to his room, entered, and slammed the door. He jumped onto his bed and covered his face, allowing the tears to flow down his face. He couldn't deal with this. He never liked it when his parents got involved with his life and his education. Sure, he is a minor and therefore under legal custody, he believed that his parents were constantly harassing him, in more ways than one. He was still annoyed about what happened last summer at his friend's party.

He was suddenly interrupted by his thoughts when his phone chimed. Still feeling a bit uneasy, he slowly reached for his phone on his side table and looked on his screen. It was a text form his best friend, Ronnie.

ronaldmcdonald: hey dude what's up?

kylelanden58: my dad is ruining my life, that's what.

ronaldmcdonald: what?? what happened?

kylelanden58: got a bad grade on the history test, remember? my dad will take away my weekend. said I'm gonna have a tutor!

ronaldmcdonald: wow that must really suck, man

kylelanden58: it does

ronaldmcdonald: well life may be a pain now, but eventually it gets better. By the way, are you going to that field trip?

kylelanden58: the field trip?

ronaldmcdonald: yes the field trip. the one where we go to some random place and learn bout boring things? the one which the teachers sent an email about to our parents?

kylelanden58: well, if my parents saw it, I wouldn't know. they never told me about it.

ronaldmcdonald: well I want you to be there, man. Field trip bus rides are boring without you

kylelanden58: alright I'll consider it. Hopefully my parents would let me go

ronaldmcdonald: okay dude. see ya

kylelanden58: you too, man

Kyle sighed and pasted a grin on his face. This would give him the opportunity to finally get away from his annoying parents for once. Now, if only he could convince them to let him go despite his bad grades....
