A Rainy Day

I had just starting pouring the hot water onto the hot cocoa mix into the two mugs on the counter. One for me and my crazy hot cocoa obsession on rainy days like this and one for my beloved husband, Everett, who is waiting patiently on the couch, ready to start our movie. After I had finished pouring the water into the cute Disney couple mugs that I made Everett get us, I opened the drawer and grabbed a spoon. I started to stir slowly and I noticed out of the corner of my eye that he was staring at me. A slow smile had spread across my face. I say casually, "What are you looking at?" without looking in his direction.

He slowly smirked and said, "You, my beautiful love."

I shook my head, transferring the spoon to the next cup. I know I wasn't looking beautiful with my sweatpants, no make-up, and hair up in a messy bun, but somehow he still looks at my like I am the most beautiful girl in the world and I can't tell you how lucky I am to have found someone to look at me like that.

After I finished stirring the hot chocolate, I picked up the two mugs and walked over to Everett who was waiting for me with his arm on the back of the couch and the blanket pushed aside so we can snuggle. I give him his Mickey Mouse mug and he takes it gratefully. He takes a sip and sighs, "Ah! Not too hot and not to cold. Just perfect, like you."

I laughed, "Alright you sappy romantic, let's start the movie." I set my hot cocoa down on the coffee table in front of us as he does the same. I get into his crook with my legs tucked under me and I snuggle down on him. I wrap my arm around him and lay my head on his shoulder, looking up at him. He looks down at me with that smile that makes me weak in the knees every time. I smile back at him and then we both turn away to start the movie.

Everett and I have made a deal where we both have to like something when we watch a movie together. He likes comedy and I like romance so once a week we will watch a romantic comedy together. We watch other movies together but we make it our goal to at least see something we both enjoy.

We were at the point in our movie where something made us laugh. I looked over at Everett and he was looking at me also. He turned back to the TV, but I decided to study him. He still had the laughing smile on his face while watching the show. I love it when I see that adorable smile on his face. Whenever I make that face, I get butterflies in my stomach and I forget my surroundings and it's just him and I. I look at his happy chocolate brown eyes, his wide perfect grin, his sharp jawline that could cut glass, and his black floppy hair that is pulled in every direction. He is so handsome and I have no idea why he fell in love with me, but I know exactly why I fell in love with him. With his funny personality to make me laugh. With how much he treats me like a lady and how protective he is over me. I am the luckiest woman in the world to have someone like him.

I was so drawn to him that I didn't feel the rumble of his chest from laughing. With his husky voice, he says, "What are you looking at?"

I snap out of my trance and start to blush. Now the situation has been reversed. I start to look down, but he caught my chin with his index finger and thumb and turned it towards his face. I sighed and smiled. "You, my beautiful love." I say repeating the words he said to me.

He smirks but he doesn't let go of my chin. We peer deeply into each others eyes for a moment, completely forgetting about the movie, until we both lean in to kiss each other. It starts out slow and then gets intense. Soon, the love we have for each other radiates from us from just a simple kiss. We slow down and pull apart. He rests his forehead on mine, both of us breathing in the air of each other. "I love you" he breathes.

I smile and look up at him. "I love you, too."

He leans back, scanning my face. "You want to do something crazy?" he said with excitement in his eyes.
