Being a hero was the only thing i could think of. I grew up watching my dad and his partner save countless peoples lives, i couldn't help but want to follow.
I remember the day my dad told me about the offer. He crouched down next to me, his red hair falling into his golden eyes a bit, the freckles on his cheek much more present up close. He said there was a rising threat and that some heroes where putting together groups of young teens to train their powers to fight, and he was giving me the choice to join.
My heart soared out of my chest! I couldn't believe my time had come so soon, it was like a dream. I wrapped my arms around his neck and begged him to let me apply, and though he was against it at first, eventually he allowed me to join.
Ever since i was little, i've had the power to control fire. It was the same as my dads, so he would teach me how to try and control it. We would often spend hours when he wasn't out helping his own team protect the city from others with said powers. I looked up to him most in this world, i have always thought that following in his footsteps is what i was meant to do. But he sat me down and told me that following his plans where not what i should do. He told me that if i wanted to succeed i needed to find my own path, and that he knew i was destined for something big.
When i was six, that was my first wake up call. My dad had gone out to investigate some group that was conducting illegal and inhumane experiments or something. I didn't comprehend it at the time.
He was gone for weeks, and i stayed with his partners family and their young daughter. When he came back, i ran to the door. But before i got there i froze. Standing in front of me was my dad, with a huge gash over his eye, and more all over his body.
He saw me and turned, crouching down with a smile.
"Things got a bit rough, but don't worry. Where you good while i was gone Blaise?" He asked, as if he couldn't see the current state he was in.
I wanted to throw up, i wanted to cry because how much he must have hurt, i wanted to scream at him and find out who did this to him, but all i did was nod.
From that day on, i trained each day even without him. I was determined to avenge my dad, and become a hero that could protect everyone.
That's how i ended up here. Walking up to the large building, with my bags packed and ready to start my life. What i didn't prepare for was the fact that once i took that step through the door, there would be no coming back.
