Leaving Raymond's Apartment

Mark and Issac led the way home while Todd and Brian followed. Issac reassured Dan, they were all well, and the only casualties were the three dogs. Calming the three men in the back seat down was another story. Charles was trying to curl into a ball in the seat after the gunfire. Miles and Raymond were trying to comfort him while being upset.

Charles kept repeating himself over and over. "Don't you see? This whole time they could have attacked us! If we hadn't gone to help they would have attacked us today! All they had to do was wait us out! We were running out of food!" Brian turned to Todd "We can't let Nathan and Shane come here to get stuff alone. There might be more dogs around."

Ian and Kyle's House

Dan turned from the radio. "They made it out. These dogs are becoming a real problem. First Kyle, and now the boys. They can't all be sick... can they? The ones that got the sickness can't all be deranged and want to attack us." Rod smiled grimly "You have to remember the Sickness affects female dogs the same as female humans. Some of the males go the same way as females.

Each animal that has recovered from the Sickness will have a gold band around the iris of the eye. Those of us humans that survived have it as well." Everybody started checking out each other's eyes. "I haven't seen the marks on the animals, but then I haven't exactly been shaving the fur off their left legs either." "If one is attacking, I'm not exactly wanting to get close enough to check either."

Rod smiled at Dan. "How are our new sons settling in?" Dan snickered "Dakota is loving the fact that he is a big brother at last. He can no longer be referred to as the baby of the family. Cole now has that honor and is eating it up. Cody is still at the rail yard so we'll see how he feels being the oldest brother to our brood when he gets back later."

"Rod grinned "I bet it's the same as when we told him about Dakota being his younger brother. He was ecstatic. He always wanted siblings, but they just weren't in the cards." Dan walked over and kissed Rod. Ian laughed "I swear Dan, You need a license to wield those lips. You've knocked Rod loopy again. He has to be able to think. He's a doctor remember." Dan just grinned and held Road close as he recovered from Dan's kiss.

Nathan grinned and winked at Shane who blushed and smiled. Rod recovered quickly "Hey I just remembered an idea I had" "Dan frowned "Tonight, I work on my kisses, that was a quick recovery." Rod laughed "Great, but back to my idea, If we install a radio over at the hospital it would improve our ability to handle things, and every time you need one of us you can just call instead of having to send somebody over to us. It'll really save on the whole escort thing every time one of us has to run over and Henry said he will man it."

Ian's face turned red "I never even thought of that Rod. It makes sense. Dan, we got a radio around we can get over there?" Dan's face was red too. "I totally missed it too Ian. Yeah, I got one. We're going to have to go rob Heiter's Electronics Store, he has like 30 of them in his back room and a few other things that would be useful to us."

"Oh yeah, Zacharias had an idea too." Dan smiled at Rod "Your just full of stuff today ain't you." Rod stuck his tongue out at Dan and laughed. "We were talking to Zacharias and Vance about places to look for medical supplies and they said in Adelard there are two clinics, a big medical supply store, four pharmacies, a survival slash military supply store, as well as two gun stores."

"Vance also said that a Bloodmobile was parked in Vance's driveway. They tended to the driver since they both had survived the fever already. The driver died but the stuff is still in the bloodmobile. Think we can get the guys to go rob parts of Adelard?" Royce busted up laughing "Dan, you hooked yourself up to a thief who's asking you to make a heist!" Dan laughed and shrugged "You forget, he's a cute thief."
