"School is dismissed. Have a great summer!" Mr. Kyle shouts into the intercom. Cheers erupt throughout the halls and everyone takes off running. Its the last day of senior year. Finally.
I walk out to my piece of junk car I got for my birthday two years ago and literally have to crawl through the passenger side to open the driver door because it's stuck. I seriously need a new car.
I slide in the seat and turn the key. It shakes and makes a bunch of weird ass noises as smoke begins to rise from under the hood. I basically have to roll out of the car onto the pavement.
"Stupid piece of shit." I groan, kicking the tire.
15 minutes passed until soon I was the only one still at the school besides the teachers and staff.
Only two minutes later I began to panic and I pulled out my phone to call Peyton but my phone was dead. She probably wouldn't answer anyways.
"Well shit." I muttered, throwing it onto my bag.
"What are you still doing here Carter?" Asher asked coming up beside me.
Asher is one of my bestfriends along with Peyton, but he hangs out with the jocks not us.
"My piece of junk car broke down,my phones dead, and it looks like its bout to rain. Dammit." I snapped.
"I told you it was gonna happen soon." he smirked.
"Ash. Please shutup." I pushed him playfully.
Someone suddenly coughed really loud from behind us. I turned around to find someone I never thought would be there, in a million years.
"Ready Harry?" Asher asked.
"Let's go motherfucker." He said, obviously not aware of my presence. I guess Asher was getting a ride from him. That's a shame considering Harry is a total douchebag.
"Oh um, Carter do you need a ride home?" Asher asked, making me look up awkwardly.
I totally needed a ride but I didn't want a ride from a jerk that barely knew i existed anymore, also I couldn't just let Asher invite me himself, Harry would have to.
"Um no I'm fine thanks." I finally answered.
"Oh come on, that junk car is never gonna crank." Asher said, tugging my hand so I would get up.
"I would but I cant." I said looking to Harry, who was staring at his phone screen.
"Oh." Asher said noticing my un comfort about the situation.
"Harry is it okay if we take Carter here home? Her car won't crank." he said joking.
He finally looked up from his phone screen and became aware of me there.
"I don't care, but just this once. I can't be everyone's ride home." Harry snapped, already making his way towards his old sports car.
We looked at each other and shrugged, Asher laughing as we hopped into the car.
"Where do you live?" Asher asked as Harry started the ignition.
Before I even begin to explain the way harry cuts in.
"I don't need the address, I think I know." Harry said calmly.
How the hell does he know where I live?
"Um okay." I said confused.
After a few seconds of silence, besides the radio, he finally spoke up.
"My Dad took me there when he was interviewing your dad for the job. I was grounded at the time." he explained.
"Oh. Cool." I said not exactly sure how to respond.
Harry and I haven't talked since the seventh grade back when we were lab partners, we were actually pretty good friends but in High school he started hanging out with the wrong people and had to move back with his Mom or something. That's what I heard anyways, but he's changed since then and definitely not for the better, plus he moved and came back for senior year.
He's a punky hardcore asshole now. With too many tattoos to count.
My thoughts were cut short as we pulled into my driveway.
I hopped out of the car after saying goodbye to Asher and awkwardly waving bye to harry.
I was sort of glad my father didn't see who had brought me home. My dad doesn't like for me to hang out with guys at all.
He's always too focused on my grades and me getting somewhere big in life.
I hate school honestly. But I'd never tell him that.
I made my way throught the old front door. My mom stood in mid living room with a grin and said she had big news. Good news I hope.
"I tried calling you to ask you where you were but I was sent straight to voicemail." She said, gesturing me to sit down.
"Phone died, it happens. What was the news?"
"Oh yeah. Steven! Come down here." Mom yells.
Soon Dad comes running down the stairs with a smirk on his face.
"You guys are creeping me out. What is it?" I ask, looking between the two of them.
They glance at one another before Dad cleared his throat.
"Well honey, this isn't easy to- I GOT THE PROMOTION AT WORK!" he yells.
"OH MY GOSH!" I squeal with excitement. This meant we could go to the ski resort for my graduation present, like Dad promised we would if he got it.
"So we are going to go skiing! Isn't that great Carter?" My mom ask, pulling me in for a hug.
"It's perfect." I whisper into her hair.
"Congratulations Dad!" I say, running up to hug him.
"Thank you honey. We invited Mr. Styles to come with us, since he got me the job, I hope that's okay."
Mr. Styles? As in Harry's dad? If Harry comes don't even count this as a vacation for me.
"Oh. Just him?" I ask hopeful.
"Him and his family, yeah. We can't invite everyone Carter." He laughs.
I fake laugh along with him. Surely Harry wasn't coming.
