CHAPTER 2

Saturday today... I am pretty tired because I wasn't used to getting early after holidays. I decide to wake up, even though I want to spend the whole day sleeping. But in the afternoon I'm going to hang out with Stella and we are going to go shopping yay! I borrow some money from my mother and count how much money I have. I've got 90 euros. Enough. After that, I decide to call Stella, so I take the phone and mark her number.

-Hello Gemma. How comes you call me so early? I thought you would rather sleep.

-Yes that's what I said yesterday, but today I feel like with such a lot of energy! So...at what time are we meeting?

I hear her hawk.

-Hmmm what about 5 o' clock?

-It's okay. Are you coming to pick me up? -I ask her. I son't want my mom to take me to the shops in her car.

-I'm not up for it. Let's meet outside Victoria's Secret. I need new bra. We may go to Forever21 later and have a look. I've heard they opened that shop yesterday.

I laugh.

-Okay. See you in a few hours! Love yooou!

She kisses the phone and I laugh harder.

-Same. Love you too!

The morning goes by very rapidly and I suddenly find myself looking for beautiful clothes to put. I need to change my look, because I am going off the clothes in my closet. I decide to wear a dotted black and white dress and plain shoes. Ella is napping and I have to wake her up as she's accepted to take me to Victoria's Secret.

-Hurry up - I tell her -We're late.

And it's no lie. It's 5 o' clock at the moment and it takes 10 minutes by car to go there.

-You know Stella will wait for you, won't she?

I nod.

-Do you like that bra? Does it suit me? -Stella says looking at me, worried.

She should have no problem when looking for bras. Everything suits her. Her hair is pretty long and black, and her body-shape is perfect in my opinion.

-Of course. But look at this one - I point at a black one. -They look alike, but this one is cheaper.

-Yeah -she confirms as she takes the one I've told her. -Thank you.

We get out of the shop and see a crowd of people just in front of us.

-What the hell?- Stella yells.

A man turns around an explains us that a dead girl has been found right there.

-Wh-what? -Stella says, apparently shocked.

I comment:

-Yuck!

My friend touches my arm and suggests to go have a look.

-Alriiiiiiiiight - I finally say.

I didn't expected it but the crowd moves on to let us see. The corpse is really bloody, especially on the chest.

-Yuck! -I repit.

-I'm gonna vomit ugh - Stella says, covering her mouth ans her nose. She's right, I might vomit too. The smell is terrible.

-What happened to her? -I ask a policeman that is around.

-Lexie has been shot.

About an hour later, we decide to return home, and I promise to phone her tomorrow to talk about school and stuff and so on.

Ella is waiting for me while watching TV.

I slide the keys into the door and open it.

-Hey there - I say as I enter. Mother doesn't even look at me. The documentary she's watching must be really interesting.

Then I realize it's not a documemtary, it's the TV news.

-Shh shut up and listen.

I sit down next to her and stare at the TV. They're talking about the dead girl I've seen on the street with Stella. I tell Ella that and she looks worried now.

-Oh my god, you should keep yourself away from those places. Be careful, especially on your way to school. It's been 4 girls killed of your age, more or less. Be careful.

She's right, I know it. But I also know that going to school isn't nothing to warn me about because I know Evan would protect me if something happened.

I'm going to bed now. It's sunday night, and I'm tired. I have justhad dinner and I have a terrible stomach ache, so I don't wanna stay awake anymore. Stella and I have beenon the phone for hours discussing what outfit are we going to wear tomorrow, the second day of school and first monday of school. We will both wear the clothes we bought yesterday. Gotta sleep now. I close my eyes...
