Chapter One.
"And who might you be?" Mr Montgomery asked as I took a seat before him.
We were in his office, it was a very dark place.
The floor was wooden and the walls were a dark brown colour as was all the furniture the room contained.
He was a very intimidating man at the age of 50. Not a single wrinkle touched his face, a dark-thick framed monocle covered his dark brown eye on the left side of his face.
"I'm Anastasia." I spoke with confidence in my voice.
"Well Ms Anastasia, may I ask why you are here?" He raised his right eyebrow slightly.
"I'm the psychiatrist you had called for Mr Montgomery." I told him.
"Ah yes. I was expecting someone more.." He stopped to think, as if he had to find a word that wasn't going to offend me.
"Mature. Yes that is the word I was looking for. Mature. You are young and innocent, I do not think you are prepared to do this job er.." He looked at me.
"It's Anastasia Denman." I said, irritation was clearly evident in my
voice.
"Yes, Ms Denman. You can leave now, I will have some other psychiatrist come in." He said.
By now I was beyond furious.
Let me explain, it was in the paper that Montgomery Asylum was in need of an experienced psychiatrist. As soon as I read this I knew this was for me.
I gave Montgomery Asylum a ring and they accepted me right away.
I travelled a long way for this and I'm not giving up now.
The main reason behind me doing this is so I can be on the inside, view Montgomery Asylum from my perspective and not what we read on the paper.
"Please excuse my rudeness Mr Montgomery but I don't live around here, I travelled a very long time just so that Ibcould get here because you had called. I'm young but very mature and i'm sure I can handle this! I would appreciate if you didn't treat me like a child."
I was breathing heavy, out of breath after my small speech.
"Very well. If at any time you feel pressured and even scared of some patients you cannot resign from this.
Follow me this way young lady." Mr Montgomery walked up to the wooden door and opened it.
"Scared already?" He mocked me.
I quickly walked over to where he was standing and gave him a stern look.
"And this is your office." Mr Montgomery held the door open.
For the twenty minutes or so he was showing me around. Well not everywhere since there were over a hundred rooms here and most of them were filled with patients.
I got a closer look at my temporary 'office'.
It was small, the desk had only just managed to fit in and two wooden chairs were dumped at the front of the desk.
There was a chair behind the desk which i'm assuming is for me to sit on.
On one side of the desk was a small file cabinet and it looked pretty full. Probably filled with patients files.
The walls were dull grey, not one window was in sight and a single light bulb was dangling in the centre of the room.
"So who's first?" I asked avoiding the subject of my opinion on the office.
