"Babe. Go get some sleep. You're with the kids all day, everyday. You need to rest, too..."
"I'm good. Besides...I don't wanna keep you from your work. You know I don't sleep until they do. That's how I know your son won't get into every little thing in this house."
"He doesn't. He just gets real curious sometimes..." He said as he chuckles. "Baby, go get in the bed..."
I just look at him. He extends his arms and takes the baby from me. Then takes the bottle.
"Thank you"
He pecks my lips and I kiss him back.
"You're welcome."
I walk off upstairs and go into our bedroom. Then head towards the bathroom for a quick shower. Being a new mom...again...makes you forget to do the smallest things.
But, I'm highly thankful I have a good man to share my kids with. When I'm done, I dry off, tie my robe on, then get in the bed.
I am a mother of two kids. One boy, whose name is Amir De'Mari Alsina, who's now two years old. And I have a newborn baby girl, De'Ajah Harmony Alsina.
August and I been together since I was sixteen. He was eighteen when we met. He was just starting out in college.
We met at a college party, in which I wasn't supposed to be at because my parents told me no. But, I went anyways. Got in so much trouble that night. But, I'm glad I did go because I never would've met him.
I am now nineteen. I didn't expect to be nineteen with two kids. But, they're my biggest blessings. It's challenging when you're in school though.
I'm going to school to be an Psychologist. I'm working on my Masters Degree. I just have to withhold on doing internships for a few more weeks.
As I was just about to fall into a deep sleep, I hear August come in.
"Awww. Look at mommy finna go nighty night..."
"Shut up" I say as I laugh
"I'm just playing. But, since they're napping for the moment...we need to talk."
"About?"
"Moving..."
"Say what now?"
"Yea..."
"What for? Because ummm. I'm pretty comfortable where we're at..."
"I have an opportunity to work at this law firm. This is an amazing opportunity for plenty of reasons..."
"And what are these reasons?"
"For one, the money. That'll come in handy, babe. Especially with a new baby. And the other ten kids for the future..."
"I think the fuck not! What the-"
"I'm just playing..." He said as he laughed "We don't need a football team..."
"Glad you were. Because I'd kick yo' ass..."
He is still laughing. He plays entirely too much.
"So violent. But, seriously. That's a plus to working there. Second, all the benefits we could get. Third, the home we could have. Fourth, I heard the daycare center is dope. Amir would love that. You could have peace, with the exception of De'Ajah. But, you'll be able to focus more on your school..."
I just give it all some thought. Then look at him.
"What makes you think this is such a great idea?"
"Because he asked us to come by his home for dinner with him and his family..."
"And when is this supposed to happen?"
"Ummmm. Tomorrow night at 7:30..."
"Wow. Nice time to say something!"
"I know..." He said as he rest his hand on my thigh.
I smack his hand away from me and he laughs. And it causes me to laugh.
"I really don't like you..."
"I love you, too DeDe..." He said with a smile.
He is very lucky I do love him. But, it's an opportunity. Who wouldn't wanna take that!? Everything he mentioned sounds all nice and dandy...but I wanna see what these people are about.
I'm crazy about mines. I have no problem with opening my mouth and speaking my mind either! Because this is probably the second best thing since his football career...
