We breathe at the same time and I slowly nod an try to pull my thoughts together.

'Will you explain how I did this to you?' I sign and she tilts her head to the side. Her breath fans my face as we near each other. She launches into her story about her parents and the cliff, and... my people. Tears track down her face as she speaks and I cry with her. 'I'm sorry, Patch, what they did was wrong, but I didn't do this and you have to believe me when I say that I didn't do this.'

"I know you didn't do this to me, but the uour people did, and how am I supposed to know that you aren't exactly like them?" I stand up and start walking away.

'I am NOT like my kind, I will never hurt another human being.' She grabs my hand and pilling me back to her and forceing me to sit.

"I'm sorry, okay" I nod, and pick at the flower in my hands. "So, tell me, what are you like?" I shrug and sigh.

'I'm weird, i mean im shy. I like flowers.' As I continue telling her about myself I begin to feel small butterflies in my tummy and she scoots closer to me and we begin sharing the same breathing space. I finish telling her about myself and when I stop talking we have only a few centimeters between us. I look down at her hands and then back up at her face. I reach my hand out and run my hand down her cheek, she shivers and I drag my hand back down her cheek.

She grabs my hand by her fingers and puts it on the ground. Then she scoots back and puts space between us. I look down at my hands and sigh, and Patch gets up and walks to the cliffs edge.

"I've always thought this was beautiful." I walk to her and sit at the edge my feet dangling over.

'You're the beautiful one here.' I sign to her. She blushes, turning her head away from me and sits down about a foot away. I scoot close to her and smile. She turns and looks at me. Putting her fingers on the ground she leans over putting herhead on my sholder.

"Excuse me?"
