Chapter Seven ➣➣ Ziall
(( Liam’s Point of View ))
Once Danielle and I had pulled into the bowling parking lot, we both piled out of the car and headed into the building. Inside, there were mostly teenagers that were swaying with the music; hardly paying attention to the scores anymore. I laced my fingers with Dani’s and tugged her in the direction of the front desk.
“Sizes?” The boy behind the desk questioned. He seemed quite familiar, but I shrugged it off. I’d probably seen him here before.
“10 and 8.” I responded, pulling out my wallet to pay, “Oh, and there’s another lad coming to join us. Irish, blonde hair and blue eyes. He’s a size 10 too.” I mumbled, tossing him the cash. His eyes widened slightly and he swallowed.
“Uhm… N-Niall?” He asked, eyeing me fearfully. I gave him a confused look before nodding. I watched his eyes widen more as he dropped the shoes in front of me and turned away. Danielle nudged me with her elbow and gestured to the boy with a quirked eyebrow. I shrugged, licking my lips.
“Do you know him?” I asked the tanned lad.
“Uhm, yeah. We were… yeah, I know him.” He responded without turning around.
“What’s your name, mate?”
“Zayn. Zayn Malik. I go to your school.” This time, he turned to face me. Our gazes locked and I shifted uncomfortably.
“Oh… alright. I'm Liam, this is Danielle. If you see Niall, just give him his shoes and send him over.” I said. Tugging on Dani’s hand again, I pulled her away from the strange boy and down an abandoned bowling alley.
“He was acting weird…” Danielle commented, picking up a ball from the track.
“Yeah. I’ll talk to Ni later about it.” I mumbled, leaning over to gently press my lips to her nose for a split second. She giggled, causing a smile to break out over my face.
(( Niall’s Point of View ))
Groaning, I pulled into the parking lot and skipped out of my car. Clicking the lock button, I heard it beep before opening the door and strolling. Liam had sent me a text saying that they were waiting for my ‘slow ass’ and that he’d already bought my game and shoes, so I headed towards the front desk. Hardly paying attention, I glanced around the alleys in search of my two friends until I heard someone clear their throat. I turned towards the desk receptionist, running a hand through my blonde-dyed hair. My bright blue eyes met his hazel-brown ones and I froze, my fingers still locked in my blonde locks. “Z-Zayn? What are you doing here?” I squeaked, panic setting in. I didn’t want to face him today. I had no idea what I was going to say, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he hated me.
“I could ask you the same, blondie. I work here.” Zayn commented, running a towel along some glasses. I watched his biceps flex with each movement, my jaw dropping slightly. “Ni, my eyes are up here.” I snapped my gaze up to his eyes again, cheeks flaming.
“I-I…” I honestly didn’t know what to say. Damnit Liam, where are you when I need you? Zayn sighed, dropping the glass and swinging the towel over his shoulder.
“Look, Niall. I’m sorry about that day… and the kiss. I didn’t… I’m sorry. I was just caught up in the moment, but please stop avoiding me. I thought I was going to finally just have a friend to hang onto, but I fucked that up didn’t I? I’m just… I’m sorry.” He sighed, his once-sparkling eyes now dulled down to dark pits. I swallowed, staring deeply into his brown eyes and instantly melting like putty.
“It’s okay, Zayn. I was an idiot for trying to avoid you, I was just scared of my feelings. So I figured—“
“Feelings?” Zayn questioned, raising his eyebrows. Feelings? What was he on about? Then my eyes widened as I realized what I’d said. Shit.
“Uhm, what? Feelings? I did not say that. I said… erm—“
“NIALLER.” I spun around, relief washing over me as Danielle saved me.
“DANI.” I cried. She tackled me, wrapping her arms around my neck and her legs around my waist. Liam followed, his gaze locked on Danielle’s back.
“I haven’t talked to you in forever, Ni. I thought you hated me or something.” The curly-haired girl pouted, dropping to the ground. Liam wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her back into his chest protectively.
“Of course I’m not, Dancer. I missed you so much.” I gave her a confident grin as Liam spoke up from his spot behind her.
“Well we’ve got the game set up, you got your shoes?” I tensed as Zayn’s hand brushed down my arm and he leaned down to my ear. I felt his teeth graze my lope as he spoke.
“I’ve got feelings for you too, leprechaun.” Then he handed me my shoes and strolled off back behind the desk. I stared after him with widened eyes and a dropped jaw. I could tell that Danielle and Liam were just confused, but I shook my head and we all headed off down towards the bowling alley. Already, I could tell that this was going to be an interesting school year.
