Lillian's POV James and I walked into a diplomat's house. I sighed as I saw pictures of Soo Yung. Poor girl. I just hope they didn't hurt her. James talked to Agent Rass as Lee walked in. He glanced at me and I felt like I was on cloud 9. Diplomat walked in and Lee introduced us. "Detective Carter and Detective Lillian have been a great help." I felt my cheeks flush at the compliment. The phone rang and James answered it. I nervously brushed my hair. "50 million dollars?! Who do you think you got, Chelsea Clinton?" I looked at Lee and saw worry in his eyes. Agent Rass sighed. "I think you should give them the money." I turned to him. "With all due respect, if we give them money, they'll keep asking for more." Rass turned to me. "And what do you know? You are just a cop. This isn't on your level." I looked down, ashamed. Lee cleared his throat. "This isn't on your level either, Agent. You are not Chinese. You don't know these people. Miss Lillian is actually right. If we give them money, they'll just ask for more." I looked up at him and smiled at him in thanks for defending me.
We were now in front of the building where the kidnapper called us from. Lee looked around. "He is not in there." Suddenly, the building exploded. James and Lee both stood protectively in front of me. Lee saw the kidnapper and turned to James and me. "Carter, come with me. Lillian, stay here." I looked at him. "What? I wanna help." Lee sighed. "Please." I nodded and they run after the man.
"I'm fine, Lily." I sighed. "Look at you! You could've injured yourself. I can't live without you. You are my best friend, my partner, my brother. I just need you to be safe." I was on the verge of tears. James pulled me to him and I sniffled. "I'm sorry, Lily. I'm sorry. I'll be more careful. Please, don't cry." I looked up at him and brushed my tears. "Just be more careful." Lee walked to us. "We need to find Soo Yung." I nodded and put my hand on his arm. "Don't worry. I promise we'll find her Lee nodded. "Thank you." I again felt butterflies but tried to ignore them. Soo Yung was more important now.
