*Brooklyn*

I can't believe I got the part! I didn't even have to go to the stage door before a student came up to me and spoiled the news.

"Brooklyn!" Sandy ran up to me and one of my best friends, Naomi, clutching the cast list in her hand, "You got Ariel, you got the lead!"

"Can I see the cast list?" I asked.
Naomi and I looked at the cast list. I surveyed the paper, taking in all the people that were going to be in the musical. I dead stopped half way down the page, "Oh no, oh no no no no nooo!"

"What?" Sandy asked.

"Eli is Eric. Are you kidding me?" I complained.

"Hey, don't worry about that douche, just be happy that you got the lead!" Naomi said.

"Thanks, Naomi. You got Sebastian that's so cool!" I smiled.

Amena ran up to us, "What did yall get?"

"I got Ariel!!" I squealed.

"I'm going to be Sebastian, under da sea!" Naomi went into her spot on Jamaican accent.
Amena and Naomi have been best friends since kindergarten. I became close friends with them in elementary school, and since we've all live the same district, we've been going to all the same schools. We used the be friends with Ava, Lola, and Jordan, but Ava moved away and so did Lola. Jordan still goes to our school, but we aren't good friends anymore. That's a whole other story.

Amena, Naomi, and I walked to the stage door and I saw Jordan comforting my former best friend, Chrystana, who was crying. Chrystana glared at me and I gave her a sympathetic look. Did she really think she was going to get the part? She's a good singer and all but she plays a bunch of sports, so she wouldn't get a lead to to scheduling conflicts. Ugh, whatever. Haters gonna hate.

I grabbed one of the cast lists and walked out to the schools parking lot. As I walked there a bunch of students congratulated me. My mom picked me up in her "soccer mom but my kids don't play soccer" van. Mom was eagerly waiting for me to spill the beans.

"So what did you get?" She asked

"I got Ariel!" I exclaimed then I proceeded to tell her what parts Naomi and Amena got.

"That's so fun! Is Amena upset about just getting chorus?"

"Oh no she's fine, you know Amena, she just wants to hang with us. Plus, she has to focus on tennis so she's probably happy she got a smaller part."

We drove home and after I finished my homework I went to bed. I couldn't wait till school on Monday. It would be my first rehearsal!
