・someone worth letting your guard down for・
◣ ◢
the first day of school had passed and time continued to sprawl forward. those days had turned into weeks and soon jungkook and taehyung could be considered friends. could be.they boys talked every school day of course, and often. so in the eyes of the student body, they were friends, in the eyes of taehyung, they were friends. but jungkook had thought otherwise. to him, kim taehyung was but another classmate whom he talked to on a regular basis, but only because of their schedules. to jungkook, a friendship consisted of trust, connection, comfort, and he felt none of that with taehyung.
he couldn't trust taehyung, he was mysterious, he knew nothing about him, he had a plethora of friends all of which he cared very little about except for jimin and hoseok. the boy put out sweet nothings for all of his classmates, and while they sat in admiration for him, he pondered whether or not he felt the need to keep them around.
he felt little connection with him, the same spark of laughter he shared with namjoon, jin, or yoongi was not the same as the one he shared with taehyung. it felt different, at times even forced, it wasn't a true friendship. not at all. it was just a conversation.
he didn't feel comforted by him. with namjoon, he could talk about his family without feeling misunderstood. with jin, he could talk about his feelings without feeling like a baby or a girl. with yoongi, he could discuss the existential thoughts he had without coming off as a depressed philosopher. but with taehyung? with taehyung, he could talk about pop culture and nothing more.
yet he still couldn't classify him as an acquaintance. he wasn't someone who he spoke to every so often, no, they spoke at least every hour. but he wasn't a friend, jungkook had no idea what taehyung was to him. he hated not knowing what taehyung was to him.
"jungkookie! what are you doing this weekend?" he slipped out of his deep thought process, turned to face the overly cheerful boy, and crossed his arms over his stomach.
"nothing, why?" taehyung pulled up a chair next to the desk and plopped down, sitting on it backwards.
"ah well, i was thinking we could hang out. me you and the hyungs i mean. we've never really done anything together yet and it's already almost march." a wide grin was etched on his face, his now faded red hair hanging in front of his eyes. jungkook leaned back and stretched his arms out, contemplating his answer.
"enh why not, could be fun. are you gonna invite hoseok-hyung?" he plastered a fake smile onto his mouth, he really didn't want to go but knowing taehyung well enough already he figured the boy would make him go anyways.
