(Karkat's POV)
"Mr. Vantas, may I speak to you in the hall for just a moment?"
I groaned as the whole class- 32 eyes- turned to me. Some of the kids were smirking at me, just waiting to hear about my "punishmesnt" sooner or later. Others just shrugged, knowing that the school would find out sooner or later.
Hey, it's not my fault that magnesium is flammable! I was simply testing out an experiment for health class, and it just so happened that Mrs. Rhynne left a cande burning on her desk. She should have been the one being questioned, not me!
Then again, the principal, Mr. Davidson, had told me that last time I damaged school property, I'd be suspended- or expelled. Honestly, I couldn't have cared less, but my so called "parents" thought it was bad for their reputation to have a kid expelled from highschool in their senior year. Ugh, what's so special about being a lawyer anyways?
Is stood up reluctantly and nearly slammed my chair against the small wooden desk as I started to walk away. Mrs. Rhynne was standing at the door, staring at me with these really cold, beady eyes. She freaked the hell out of me sometimes, that woman.
The door slammed behind me as I left the classroom, a bored look on my face. Mrs. Rhynne folded her ams, giving me the cold look again. She didn't say anything, so I didn't either.
Finally, that idiot woman gave in. "What you've done, Karkat, is completely unacceptable, you hear me?"
"Yeah, so?" I responded dully, staring up at her. "I've done many unacceptable things in my time at this awful place. What difference does it make that I burned a few schoolbooks?"
I could see her temperment rising, and held back a laugh. "Why do you think this is okay?!"
I shrugged.
She went on, fuming. "Karkat Vantas, this is the last freakin' straw! I'm going to have a little chat with Mr. Davidson this afternoon, and we'll be discussing alternatives to school." She paused and handed me a pink detention slip.
"See you this afternoon in my office."
...
I went through the rest of the day without a problem- just the usual boring classes and daily fights with the other populars/troublemakers. Of course, some teachers gave me dirty looks, but that was pretty normal. Obviously, word had spread through the school, because pretty much everyone was talking about me by the end of the day.
I was a star. (sorta)
And so when I went into Mr. Davidson's office at 3:30, I was welcomed by about eight teachers, who were all giving me quite sour looks. I just smiled and waved at them as I took my usual seat in the back.
Mr Davidson finally came in after about ten minutes of awkward staring from teachers, and he looked pissed. He seriously gave me the meanest look I'd ever seen from someone- EVER. And even though I rarely got creeped out by teachers, this was freaky as crap.
"Mr. Vantas," he growled, shooting me pins and needles with his eyes. "You are expelled from this school. You're parents are in the front."
Well that was blunt.
