chapter 1

station 19 respond to a house fire at a bed and breakfast, the second time in one shift, this time the fire took hold of the kitchen making the sister run into the back room, and know she was held there with a piece of glass sticking out of her thigh, as she sits there waiting to be rescued she could hear her expensive wine in the racks exploding from the fire heating them up.

on the other side of the door andy and maya bicker trying to figure out a way to get the lady out.

Andy: right i will run in and try and avoid the flying glass, and get the lady out of there.

Maya: no andy you cant do that broken glass can go through your turn out gear.

Andy: well i am willing to risk it to get that lady out before she burns alive.

Maya: fine make it quick and I will keep the door clear.

Andy opens the door and braces herself for the run of her life, she runs fast as she can to the opposite side of the room, as she runs across she sees the corks and glass and liquid hit her body but then she gets knocked to the ground when she was hit by flying glass and a cork, she falls to her knees banging her side on objects on the cabinet as she goes down, she gets back up ignoring the pain in her side unknown that she is worse than she thought, the cork and glass imbedded themselves into her right side, plus when she fell she hit her ribs and hurt them in the process.

Maya: andy you ok, am coming in.( shouts maya to her friend)

Andy: no  dont am fine i am getting the lady know.

andy grabs the lady who protest saying that she hurt her leg, and wraps the straps aroud the women and she helps her up from the chair, Andy grabs a tray from the side board and uses it as a shield then she puts the womens arm around her shoulder and soon she runs with the women back the way she came, maya held the door open and soon the women was choking on flying glass she in haled, they rush her out of the house and to the front grass, they lay her on the ground and start to treat her.

once the lady was out of the woods and into the aid car, maya, andy and the rest off the team packed up their gear, maya jumped into the drivers seat of the truck while andy struggled to get into the passenger seat, maya watches her friend struggle and she knew that something is wrong with Andy.

Maya: i thought you said you were okay?

Andy: yeah i am why you asking?

Maya: well you seem to be in pain from earlier.

Andy: oh yeah its nothing probably got winded when i went down.( andy cradles her right side were the pain is)

Maya: okay let me know if you need me.

maya continues to drive the truck back to the station, a few minutes of quiet in the truck goes by, andy sat in the truck ignoring the pain in her side, but then she starts to feel lightheaded and her world was fading fast, soon andy had fell unconscious in the passenger seat of the truck.

maya continued driving until she got to the station once all the trucks where parked in the station maya notices something is wrong, she sees everyone getting out of the truck but Andy was still in her seat with her head to the side.

Maya: hey andy we are at the station time to wake up.( says maya shaking andy to wake up, but she gets no response)

maya suddenly notices something is wrong with her friend, she places two fingers against andy's neck, she finds a faint pulse beneath her finger tips, maya starts to assess andy and she concludes somethingis wrong but she cant treat her friend in the truck so she shouts for help from the rest of the team.

Maya: guys i need help something is wrong with andy, i need to get her out of the truck and onto the floor.(shouts maya getting the attention of the guys, who run to the passenger side of the truck.

jack climbs into the vehicle he grabs andy and he moves her slowly out of her seat, with the help of the guys they manage to get andy from the truck to the aparatus floor.

Jack: what happened?

Maya: i think she was injured while getting that women out, i seen her fall she said she was fine but then she was hiding something from me, but i dont know what.

Jack: okay well lets not blame eachother, now lets get her jacket off her and see what is wrong with her.

jack pulls the jacket to one side revealing andy's thin and toned body, as he and maya move the coat they see the reason for andy's sudden collapse, she had glass and a cork sticking in her chest.

Jack: oh god thats bad, and she probably didnt feel it she probably thought she ripped her coat.

Maya: okay lets get pressure bandages on this wound, and get some 02 on her and prep the aid car we might as well take her in that, get the spine board ready, and travis get a line in, dean do her vitals.

Jack: okay someone needs to be in charge now so i am taking charge, maya take travis and warren in the aid car, i will call pruitt and tell him whats happened and i will get him to meet you at the hospital.

Warren: okay she has decreased breath sounds on the right and her blood pressure is in her boots she needs to get to hospital know, did she bang her right side?

Maya: yeah she hit it on the corner of a cabinet when she went down.

Warren: she probably bruised or cracked her ribs too.

Jack: right warren take charge get in the back with maya, treat her the best you can and get her to the hospital.

Maya: right lets go.

maya, warren and travis get andy onto the spine board and on to the stretcher, they strap her to the trolley and they put her into the back of the aid car, travis runs to the drivers side and gets in, he starts the engine, warren and maya climb into the back of the aid car, the doors slam shut and soon the team are on the way to the hospital with andy in the back.
