The place smells of alcohol, I have no idea what is going on with me. I’m just turning nineteen and I can’t just drown my problems in alcohol but I can’t help it. If I keep doing it things will just go downhill. I shrug the feeling off when I grab the Jack Daniels bottle out of the cabinet and it’s absolutely fantastic, the way it burns my throat. It almost makes you forget all your thoughts disappear for a moment. It’s nice, really, just not the massive hangover that follows.

It’s been a few days since Louis came home and I really wanted to spend some time with him before I go home. I’m going home until the tour begins, I told the lads a long time ago, Louis should know. Yet, he doesn’t want to spend time with me. I should’ve caught up earlier, it’s all over, he just doesn’t have the heart to tell me, I know it.

When I wake up the morning after with my head pounding, I promise myself that I will never have another drink in my life. We all know I will not accomplish that. I have a few texts, the boys reminding me about our lunch they arranged for my birthday. Shit, my birthday is today. All I want to do is crawl back to bed and sleep for the rest of the day; I don’t want to have any human interactions. I have no choice though, otherwise they will just show up in my apartment and they would never leave.

I skip taking a shower, I’ll only be an hour or so then I have to pack for my flight this evening. I don’t really want to dress in anything else than my stained shirt that I’m already wearing but I think that restaurant is a little fancy so again, I have no choice.

At the restaurant I’m greeted by three familiar faces, where’s the fourth one?

“Happy birthday!” They shout and my head could just explode right there.

“Where’s Lou?”

“Nice to see you too...”

“Seriously, where is he?” I’m a little bummed out that he didn’t show up on my birthday, even though I hate birthdays myself, he could still show up to his boyfriends birthday lunch.

“Relax; he’s probably just on his way. You’ve been overreacting Harry, you know it yourself.” Zayn says to me. He doesn’t know shit. “You shouldn’t be mad at him, give him a little break.” Give him a break?

“He hasn’t even tried to make time for me since he came back. You know, scratch that, he came over last night for an hour, if that, then he had to go because his precious girlfriend called.”

“You seriously don’t think that Louis and Eleanor have something going on. Are you even listening to yourself Harry? It’s stupid and you know it.” Maybe they’re right. It’s hard for Louis, he’s being forced into it, and maybe I should give him a break.

We wait for an hour and still no sign of Louis. Where the fuck is he?

Another half an hour goes by.

“He isn’t coming guys. I need to go, I’m leaving tonight...”

“No wait, Louis just texted! He’s on his way now!” Niall shouts as he’s typing into his phone.

“Fine.” I huff, sitting back down.  And half an hour later he walks into the restaurant, and of course that little brunette is tagging along behind him.

“Fucking great.” I sigh before Louis reaches the table.

“Hey there lads. Thanks for telling me we were having lunch today!” He says sarcastically. It’s obvious he didn’t have a clue. Niall must have texted him to come or something. “Have you been here long?” He asks sitting down. No happy birthday wish. Has he forgotten?

“No.” I reply simply shrugging the feeling off. He couldn’t have, he must have a reminder on his phone and if he doesn’t, it’s all over twitter.

“That’s good. I thought by the text Niall sent that you had been here for a while. I didn’t know you had arranged lunch, way to include me, or did you maybe plan all this for me...” he laughs. That’s it.

“Shut up! Yes, we have been waiting for two fucking hours and then you show up with her? Are you serious? I’m gonna leave now, I hope you enjoy this wonderful lunch we arranged just for you! I’ll see you in a week!”

“Where are you going?” Louis asks.

“Home, I told you. I going to spend some time with my mum before the tour start and I’m already running late. Enjoy this precious lunch!”

“Harry, sit down.” Liam orders making me laugh.

“No, I’ve had enough with this shit. You told me not to worry, that I’m overreacting. Just think about it now, seriously, it’s right in front of you!” I point at the two people who had just sat down at the table. “I need to go. Thank you though, for doing this and I ruined it...” I gesture to the lunch.

“Stay. Harry, sit down.” Liam orders again, “You deserve this and you’re not going to let this dipshit ruin it for you.” He nods to Louis who looks taken aback by Liam’s words. I am too, he never talks this way.

Zayn smacks the back of Louis’ head. “Hey, what was that for?”

“You can’t be serious Louis? We were all in on this, you too! I can’t believe you forgot! Here we were, defending you, telling Harry he’s overreacting and he needs to give you a break because he thinks that the two of you have something going on. While we were defending you, you forgot about all this, and you were hanging out with her?! Do you even know what today is?”

“It’s Monday.” Louis replies simply, shrugging.

“The date maybe?” Zayn presses.

“February 1st.” He says, not even a hint of realization in his voice.

“I’m leaving.” I say for the final time and this time I don’t listen to Liam ordering me to come back. I want to go. I need to get away from here, from him.

“Louis!” I heard the boys shout as I’m making my way out of the restaurant.

“Have you seriously forgotten his birthday?” Liam barks at him, I’ve never seen him so angry.

I open the door of the restaurant and look back once again, seeing Louis staring at me and finally his face shows realization but it’s already too late and I hurry out of that place before anyone can stop me. I ignore my phone buzzing in my pocket as I drive back to my flat.

Maybe I’m overreacting, it was only my birthday and I hated it anyways...
