『 Chapter Two: Sharp Features 』THE COOL BREEZE SWEPT Clara's hair gently, as the ocean breeze carried the salty water in small droplets around her. In her arms she carried a small toddler about the age of two, who had a widespread smile on his small face.
"CQ!" A red haired girl exclaimed, running up to the teenage girl. A smile was plastered onto her face, which meant she full of excitement. "CQ! I found a shop at the boardwalk, can we go? Please?!"
Clara chuckled, looking back at her father and his wife. Both were linked arm to arm, Charles' wife —Rachel— had her head on his shoulder, while Charles had a tight grasp on her hand. They both were the perfect representation of a great couple, their marriage probably the most happiest day for Clara's father. Even after witnessing her parent's split up, Clara couldn't help but be happy for her father's renowned life.
"Well, if it's okay with the parents..." Clara trailed, smiling in hope.
Charles shared a brief look with Rachel, who eventually nodded with a small chuckle. "Just don't talk to strangers, go anywhere else that you're not supposed to, and please send me a message once you arrive."
Setting the toddler —Toby— down onto the ground, Clara nodded. "Yeah, yeah, I know this whole process. 'I promise that if any person approaches us, I will personally whip out my mighty oh so mighty pepper spray and cause a seasonal dish of great disaster." A smile spread on Clara's features, a laugh escaping at her own joke.
A confused expression shined on Rachel's face, looking at Charles with amusement.
He chuckled nervously. "It was something I always told her whenever Clara wanted to stay afterschool for track meets."
Rachel chuckled softly. "That's great advice."
"We'll be back, parents." The red haired girl stated, giving them a thumbs up.
"Lisa, be careful." Rachel retorted as soon as the wild twelve year old girl pulled the brunette.
"CQ, you have some money on you, right?" Lisa asked, smiling. "Because today is going to be looooong."
Walking down the side of the bustling pier, both girls happily talked all their way to their destination. The sun had a warm touch onto the girls' skin, the beginning of summer at the brink of the air.
"Woah that guy's cute." Lisa cooed, looking up to Clara.
Arching her eyebrow in question, Clara looked from the twelve year old girl to the direction she was looking at. Her eyes fell on a tall boy about Clara's age, his black hair wildly finding it's way on settling. A small strand fell onto his eyes as he was recovering from a wild laughter that had contained him. His eyes crinkled at the edges, showing a warm happiness to him. A small smile appeared on Clara's lips, as if the laughter was contagious.
"I say you go talk to him." Lisa said.
"W-what?" She asked. The girl had finally noticed that she was so distracted in observing the boy, they had stopped their journey to the boardwalk.
"Yeah! Go ask for his number, go on a date, get a boyfriend. You really need to get out more."
"I-I, Lisa, no!" Clara scoffed. "I thought we were going to take you shopping, not fix my social life."
"Hey, this time you said it yourself." She mumbled at Clara's last comment. Both girls began walking once more, which became quickly interrupted with Lisa's excitement. "CQ, he looked over at you!"
