7pm.

there's a reason we are starting this story 5 months early. ill explain that later.

i walk through the door, best friend, Eleanor by my side to calm me when my social anxiety gets the better of me. She had started rock school a week before me and she assured me that it will help me with my social anxiety. i trust her because she struggles with the same issues as me.

let me backtrack real quick. rock school is a 2 hour session of music lessons held every Wednesday in my school (but only held there... it has nothing to do with school, just held in the building) the first hour is a lesson with you and in my case vocal teacher. the second hour is performance skills where you and your band-mates perform a set-list of songs on stage to the staff and they give you feedback. Danny, the guy that runs the franchise, is like the manager. he gets you gigs at festivals and shit when you're ready to perform the songs you need to. anyway, just thought id clear that up.

'are we late, i know it starts at 7 but i would have prefered to be a bit earlier' i ask Eleanor, 'no we're right on time. nobody here is a responsible adult so its fine' i giggle and make my way inside with Eleanor. I instantly feel comforted as I am greeted with a warm smile from Danny, i know him from when i signed up for this. i soon learn that the guitar teacher was called Thomas, The bass teacher was called Josh and the vocal teacher was called Ronnie but was only just finishing tour tomorrow so a guy called Remington had to stand in. He was cute and seemed confident and welcoming so im ok with that.

'heyy! i suppose you're y/n? you're gonna fit in so well here. we're a huge family that we're excited for you to become a part of!'

'im excited to be here' i say quietly, looking at the ground.

'ok so you're doing vocals, correct?' you nod slowly. he points in the direction of remington. remington looks up from his phone and smiles warmly at me while waving. 'follow remington into your practice room!' i nod, hug Eleanor who plays guitar and follow Remington into the vocals practice room.

'hey, im Remington, whats your name?' he does that adorable smile again which makes me blush.

'im y/n..' i mutter.

'cool! so have you heard of The Red Hot Chili Peppers?' my eyes light up as i nod frantically. i fucking love them.

'awesomeee you have a good taste in music. today we're learning quite a simple song by them called By The Way. dont worry, you dont have to do the rap - if you can even call it that - Eleanor will do that for you.' i smile so widely. this is gonna be way better than i thought. Remington seems to be watching in awe every time he hears me sing. why? im not even that good...

After an hour passes i go into the performance room where everyone plays the setlist. i only know the one remington taught me how to use your vocals from today so i only play that one. at first i was nervous but even if i mess up nobody cares they're just having fun which is amazing. i havent felt this carefree in forever. and Remington is cute as hellllll.

For the next few months i watch my anxiety slowly reduce bit by bit the more i do rock school. this is amazing.
