I'm in an old country field playing in the grass. The same one I was abandoned at. I turn around to see my parents drive off. I run after the car, but trip. The car speeds away. "NO!" I scream, and jolt up. I had fallen asleep in class again. I look around, hoping nobody noticed. Thankfully it seems my slumber went unnoticed. This dream always comes back to me. There's never a thing I can do to change it. My parents always get away. I sigh and look out of the window next to my desk. "Ms.Adams would you care to answer the question regarding chapter 23?" Asks my English teacher Mrs.Hayes. "Uh..Ok.." I stutter as I flip through the book as quickly as I can. It's some really cheesy romance novel called "Love in a new light". Mrs.Hayes really is a sucker for that stuff. I struggle to find the answer and right words to explain my thinking. "I...I.." "I see you've been caught up in your little daydreaming sessions again." She says, cutting me off. I look over and see a few girls whispering about something. They then look at me and laugh. Their names are Chloe and Zoey. They've been making fun of me ever since I started coming to this school. They're horrible. At least they're seniors now, I won't have to deal with them next year. What do they even want from a Sophomore like me? "I'll be seeing you after class." Mrs.Hayes says slowly. Great! As if my day couldn't get any worse. My thoughts are interrupted when the bell rings announcing that it's time for lunch. I file out of my seat with the rest of the students in academic English, but make a stop at Mrs.Hayes's desk first. "Ms.Adams, you really can't be doing this anymore!" I know! I'm sorry. I mutter. "Keep in mind that this will effect your grades if it continues to happen. We will have to move you down to a lower level English class." I'll make an effort to stop,I say quietly and look away. "Thank you dear." She says dismissing me. As I walk out of the classroom a force pushes me to the ground. I look up and see Chloe and Zoey staring down at me. What was that for! I ask angrily. "Aw look Chloe! Little Miss-Alice is hurt!" Says Zoey mockingly. "It's too bad nobody cares about her enough to help!" Chloe continues, kicking me In the side. What do you even want from me?! Just leave me alone! I say, much louder this time. They look at each other, then look back at me, and begin to laugh. "Isn't she just pathetic?" Laughs Chloe. "No wonder her parents gave her up!" Zoey says, staring me down. I try so hard not to let their words get to me, I know that a reaction is all that they want but this really hit me. As I feel my eyes begin to well up with tears, I hear a voice from across the hall. "Leave her alone!" Bellowed this voice. "She did nothing to deserve this from you! Clearly you don't understand that you're the pathetic ones in this situation. Who spends their time picking on someone 3 years younger than them? That's just sad." The two girls roll their eyes and walk away after the response. Then this person comes closer to me, and I get a glimpse of them. He looks familiar, though I've never talked to him. He reaches out his hand to help me up, and I take it. "Don't let their words get to you. You are more important than you know." Thanks..? I say with a questioning look. "You might not see it now, but trust me you will. Heck, I thought I was a worthless teenager a few months ago too!" He turns his back and begins to walk away. Uh I never got your name! Hey! Wait up! He walks off too fast for me to get a word out of him. Maybe I'll catch him around sometime soon long enough to talk more. I'm so confused about what those words mean though. I'm not important in any way! I guess I'll just try not to let this thought get to me so I can get through the rest of the day. Can't be having anymore daydreaming sessions after all!
