"Hermione, you can't just stay here all night." Ginny said.
Dinner had just ended, and Hermione was choosing to keep herself firmly planted to the table. All of the students in the Great Hall were slowly trickling out the doors. The only ones left were four Gryffindors and five Slytherins.
Hermione didn't budge. She didn't make any movement to show that she'd heard Ginny. "C'mon, Hermione, detention can't be that bad," said Dean.
"You're right, Dean," Hermione said slowly, acknowledging his presence. Dean blinked. "Detention wouldn't be that bad if it was just me. But I have to spend wasted time with the Bouncing Ferret tonight, so no, Dean, I actually think you're wrong."
Liam piped up, "What's the Bouncing Ferret?"
Hermione gave him a dark look. "I think you mean who's the Bouncing Ferret."
Liam looked even more confused. "It's a person?"
"Yes. A foul, loathsome cockroach-like person called Draco Malfoy."
The Gryffindor furrowed his eyebrows. "Son of Lucius Malfoy?"
"Is there anyone else named Draco Malfoy?" snapped Hermione.
Liam immediately retreated. He'd heard the stories about what the witch could do if bothered. "Don't mind her," Ginny spoke to him, sighing. "She's only gotten detention once, in her first year. She hasn't gotten any else since."
"She's only gotten one detention? In seven years?" Liam said, staring at Hermione, disbelief written all over his face.
"Well, six, technically speaking. She missed last year," Dean chipped in.
"She's a bit cranky, too," Ginny added thoughtfully, as if it wasn't obvious. "She hasn't lost House points so soon into a term, nor gotten a week's detention the night she arrived. This is a first for her."
"She can hear you!" Hermione said, banging her head on the wooden table.
"Please, Hermione. You'll only get into more trouble if you just stay here," pleaded Ginny, turning back to the bushy haired Gryffindor.
"Better than being stuck in a room with Malfoy," Hermione muttered.
The three Gryffindors shared a look. Two of the three nodded, pulling out their wands. They pointed them at the head-banging burnette. Ginny held up three fingers, counting down. At one, her and Dean both whispered, "Petrificus Totalus."
Hermione stilled immediately. Her arms snapped to her sides and her legs sprang together. And then she was on the floor, entire body rigid, eyes swivelling, horrified.
Liam had a similar look on his face. Seeing this, Dean said offhandedly, "Don't worry. We'll lift it once we get to McGonagall's office. Then we'll have time to hide. Now, help me lift her."
Proving to be too much work to physically carry Hermione, the three placed a Hover Charm on her. Then, with the now furious, but immobilized Gryffindor between them, they frog marched out of the Great Hall.

The five Slytherins watched the Gryffindors leave. Zabini, Nott and Goyle were stifling laughter. Even Pansy Parkinson was fighting back a smile. The one person not smiling was Malfoy.
"You can't sit in that seat forever," Zabini said when he noticed the expression on Malfoy's face.
Malfoy growled, "I will if it means I don't have to go anywhere near that mudblood."
As the last word slipped past his lips, the four other Slytherins turned to look at him, their smiles disappearing. "What?" snapped Malfoy.
"You said you would try to stop saying it," Parkinson finally spoke.
