Sometimes, all one needs is a wake up call to see that things need to change, even if it comes in the form of a schedule change. Or in this case, a roster change. Starting off on another cycle of work, Anne went through her routine like she always did. From the shower, to the closet and to the kitchen, she made her way throughout the apartment and out the door, wondering what she'd say or how she'd feel when she and Mika came face to face after their night of crazed and drunken passion. She knew she'd had to face her eventually, but it was still so weird. And it wasn't like as if she was a victim of it all; Mika was a victim of circumstance and misunderstanding. And of course, there was wine. Anne made a mental note to examine that wine. As the elevator opened and allowed her entry, Anne stepped in and waited as it ascended to the lobby. Standing as the music played softly, it held her mind's attention, easing her into a thought process that she felt she had been avoiding. If there was one thing she had to do, it was talk to Mika and figure this out. As the door pinged as a signal to exit to the lobby, she walked her through to the parking, putting away her phone. As she walked, she picked her head up to find an unexpected visitor standing by her car. Curious, she tilted her head, licked her lips and spoke.
"Umm, excuse me, i believe that's my car you're leaning on." The figure, standing tall with skater boy shoes and relaxed fit jeans, a simple hoodie with a t-shirt underneath, and glasses was standing and looking Anne in the eye, not saying anything until they simply stood up straight and still. Quirking a brow, Anne walked to the driver side till the figure spoke. "You should be careful..." Anne stopped, turned around and raised a brow at the person speaking, unsure what the person was referring to. "Be careful? I'm sorry if i don't catch you're drift.." The person giving the warning didn't elaborate further, just blinked, tipped their head and walked away, leaving Anne confused and unsure. As she slipped into her car, the words, the warning, stuck with her the entire day.
Just as Anne was pulling in, Mika was stepping outside to get an item from her car, seeing the Mini Cooper of her late night tryst driving up and getting into her usual spot. Something about seeing Anne pull up gave her a newly felt sick feeling. It didn't usually occur but after the latest events, it's been sticking with her and hard. What would she say? How would their working relationship be affected. It didn't matter before but then again, she wasn't working with someone who had long hidden feelings for her that have since been revealed.
Feeling her feet move, Mika stood outside her car with a look of hidden dread that she was about face her secret love interest that was more interest on the other woman's side than her own. The question she pondered: what would Anne be thinking? And how would she be feeling as well. "Well, it's about time you made another appearance. I was beginning to think that i was considered chop liver." With a smirk and a chuckle, she looked Anne in the eyes, even despite having sunglasses on. But judging by the way Anne was standing and looking, it wasn't a fun time for all on her end. "Mika, i think we need to talk but not out here where we could be seen..." Mika wasn't sure how to take the request, but she didn't object as the two walked into the building as casually as they would any other day. As they approached the elevator, the sudden feeling of stares and gazes were being thrown their way as the elevator door pinged open and allowed them to enter. It was clear that what the other riders in the elevator thought was how dare a woman with continued success, great kids and a fiancé be riding with a lowly intern as their body heat practically emanated from one another... or was that what Anne had been thinking as she tried to bear the minutes that felt like eternity of the elevator riding to it's final destination. With a mutual breath of relief, Anne and Mika slipped off the elevator, the blonde in stride behind the brunette.
Anne instantly swung the door open in both frustration and embarrassment of being distracted by what she was thinking others were thinking. Usually it didn't matter one way or the other how other people felt, but with recent events still on her mind, it wasn't easy to ignore. And from the way Mika stood, her armor of stoicism and reservation slowly cracking, it was clear she couldn't ignore it either. The only question Anne was..."Why? Why didn't you tell me?" Mika kept her stance and posture, but moved into the office fully enough to close the door behind her, turning the lock to full lock position as well as she dropped her bags to the side. Instead of simply answering the question, Mika walked closer to Anne, her body leaning into the brunette's while the brunette's stepped towards an adjacent wall across from the door, the hitch in her breath slicing through her as she felt Mika finally close the space between them, stand between Anne's legs that had somehow slid open without Anne even feeling or noticing, and breath a few breaths on her open neck. As she slid her hands up each side of Anne's waist, Mika noticed Anne biting her bottom lip, the tip of her tooth bearing down a bit more than she normally would which meant one of two things: she was scared shitless of getting caught by Joe, which would be devastating to them both; or she was desiring Mika so intensely that it was killing her slowly.
