Guilt. Nothing spelled disaster like that one word, so solitary and yet so screamingly bold at the same time. It's what woke Anne from her fog as she woke up with a clear mission in mind: avoid her as much as possible. Wouldn't be necessary if she had just stuck her ground and walked out of that office where the scene of elicit activity had occurred. But oh no... she had to give in because she wanted to be sure she wasn't dreaming; that she wasn't being hoaxed. And from the moment it started, to it's satisfying end and everything in between, the entire scenario had been confirmation enough. A week after that last encounter, it was clear something had to change, and she knew it had to come from her side of things. Anne had made the brave, difficult and inevitable choice to switch over from the morning intern shift to the afternoon intern shift. It was a drastic move considering how much she loved seeing the morning crew— from Stephanie Ruhle, to Hallie Jackson, she'd miss seeing those highly talented and famous faces in the morning, but most of all, she'd miss watching Morning Joe and the panelists around the glass table. But it was best and necessary to throw off the unwanted attention this incident was bound to attract. If anyone was going to be the bigger person and put the past to bed, it was gonna be Anne.

As she stood outside the balcony of her new apartment that was finally lived in after a week of packing and re-decorating, Anne drank her latte from the new latte maker that was conveniently left outside her doorstep— no doubt a welcome back/apartment warming gift from her. Rolling her eyes, Anne licked her lips, took another sip of the unfortunate lukewarm espresso drink and stepped back into the apartment, sliding the door closed. She hadn't been able to wrap herself in the aftermath (or the potential aftermath) of what they had created between them, but one thing was clear: she had stepped up, gave her soul a clean break and walked away... or so she thought.

No sooner had she sat down on the couch, picked up her laptop and tapped into Instagram that she saw what was ultimately the best and proper ending that, if the exchange between herself and Mika come out publicly, needed to happen. While scrolling her former boss' Instagram page, she saw the smiles and the love between the pair of beautiful lovebirds. From all accounts, this is what Anne had hoped for because she wasn't about coming between two people who had been destined to be together, even at a time where life was so sensitive and complicated.

Satisfied she had done her duty, Anne slipped her laptop off her lap, placed it on the coffee table and walked into her room to shower and prepare for a whole new start to what would become her new (and reformed) normal.
