Sharon shifted a stack of papers on her desk, running her fingers through her hair as she stared down at the paperwork. It was a Friday and the last thing she wanted to do was be here working. Emily was getting in from New York in a few hours and she just wanted to be home curled up with Andy on the couch. Letting out a sigh she sat back in her chair, pinching the bridge of her nose as she closed her eyes. There was a knock on her door making her sit back up.
"Come in" She said placing her elbows on her desk as Andy and Provenza walked in.
"Do you have a minute?" Provenza asked.
"Sure, what's going on." She said as Andy closed the door. She noticed his changed domineer and frowned.
"We got some news on the girl in the hospital who we found at the crime scene."
Sharon nodded, their latest victim had left behind a two year old daughter, or at least they assumed it was his daughter. With no real way to ID the toddler they had run DNA.
"And?" Sharon asked.
"Uh, it gets a little tricky. We didn't find any matches through the database. So they ran it against a wider spectrum and they got a DNA match."
"Great, do we have a name?" Sharon asked.
"Sharon," Andy said making her look at him. "It was a match to you."
Sharon felt he face go pale. "I don't..."
"It wasn't a direct match. But you would most likely be related in some way." Provenza explained.
Sharon fell silent, looking down at her shaking hands.
"Can you give me a moment alone with Andy?" She asked.
Nodding he got up leaving them in the office. Pulling over a chair Andy sat down in front of her pulling her around to face him.
"What's going on?" He asked quietly.
Sharon swallowed shaking her head slightly in sheer disbelief. "A few years after Ricky was born I got pregnant again. I was scared to tell Jack and I kept it from him for months. But he finally came home and found out. He was angry, I didn't blame him. We got into a fight and things escalated. I would up at the bottom of a flight of stairs and bleeding. I thought I lost it. They wound up having to do a C-section. They said it was a girl, and that was it. I lost a lot of blood and blacked out. When I woke up the doctor told me that she didn't make it. Jack had left already, and that was it."
"Wo how do we get here then? With a two year old having similar DNA."
"I don't think my daughter died." Sharon added. "I think Jack got revenge."
"Woah, Sharon that's huge assumption. I mean Jack is an ass and what he did was awful but do you really think he would kidnap a baby?" Andy asked in disbelief.
"One way to find out." Sharon said simply, picking up her phone she called Jack.
