Chapter 8 – Masquerade Ball
Who in the hell? Who in the hell is going to wear this? Astonished looking at the dress in the manikin I think of many excuses why I couldn’t go. Damn it. Why did I get myself in this mess? I could’ve just said no instead of making it a big deal.
I keep looking at the dress and say, “Nicole,”
“It’s lovely I know!” She sounded very excited. But, she just keeps jumping into conclusions. I hate it. I mean I know I was supposed to tell her what was really going on but, she is so excited. I couldn’t hurt her. What if she wasn’t going alone?
I still had to tell her though “Nicole. I’m sorry I should’ve told you before. I can’t go,” Her face dropped when I finished my sentence. I hate this. Doing this to her. I kept going “I-I’m sorry. How can I attend the ball if I have to be guarded by William?” I question.
“Is he the only reason why you don’t want to go?” She asks looking at me waiting for a response. Was it he? I’m not sure. He was practically the main reason. “I kind of just didn’t want to go at all. But, you already have everything. Yeah he’s the main reason.” I spit out the words.
“Say no more,” Nicole nagged running out of the room. This is why I hate her sometimes. Since I was already sitting in my bed I didn’t move or followed behind her. Waiting for her impatiently I walk out of my room a couple of minutes later. I walk down the stairs but, mid-way through the stairs Nicole says, “ Really?!” There’s a small silence until William says, “Yeah I suppose,”
“OH, my god! Thank You,” I knew the conversation was over so I quickly ran back to my room. See this is why I should never trust William. Not that I did in the first place… Did Nicole really brag him out on letting me go?
“Honey! Get whatever you are going to need for tomorrow because you’re going to sleep over at mines tonight. “ How in the hell was this happening? Who in the hell said I could?!
“I can’t,” I begin “William can’t take me out of his sight.”
“That’s why, I my friend,” She says pointing at herself “am prepared . He’s sneaking in the back of my house into my room. He’s staying in my bedroom sofa.” Great! Nice one. I’d rather stay here. Yeah not happening “How about I just don’t go at all?”
“Emery, Will is going to the ball. He has too! He can’t stop you from having fun even if he has to go.” Oh, right then. “Let’s do this,” I say.

When we arrived to the ball I was astonished. Everything was so good. Damn, seriously! How do they even pull this off so good? The people, the girls in there dresses it was lovely. I kind of felt like I was in the whole Van Helsing. That part when Dracula takes the girl and dresses her up to the masquerade. This place was huge. Parking sky’s car a street away from the ball itself we walk out of the car. I guess I was pretty excited. I mean it’s a ball. Yeah, right! That’s not what you said when you were complaining my inside thought. I know! Getting my mask I place it on my face being careful not to destroy the ponytail Nicole had bragged about. Since, my hair was long I didn’t mind ponytails because my hair was still long even through the pony tail. Thank my lucky stars that I only had to pull the strings behind my ear and the mask would stay without falling off.
I brought another one just in case. But, that one you did have to hold it with your hand. I was also, able to wear black leggings through the long strapless purple and black dress. This dress was beautiful. The heels weren’t really too high but, I still managed to walk with them. I brought a stripped peplum shirt because I don’t think I am going to last with this dress on the whole night. I could always change and wear my other mask. I don’t know why but, tonight specifically made Sky look older. I really had to know how old he was.
