Vea had been on her own for around three weeks now. I'd tried my hardest to ignore the dreams that I'd had but I knew a part of me would always resent her for what she'd done; for what she was going to do. This was nothing I could do though, the past is the past. And her future is inevitable.
I stood in my office looking over my next recruitment when Vea stormed in. "Kellen! Kellen, fix this. There are plenty of other Reapers. Why would Death- uh... He... assign her to me?" I looked down at her agenda and immediately recognized the name.
"I don't understand. Who is she? Do you know her?" I turned to face her, a confused expression on my face. Though I knew exactly who this name belonged to.
"Yes I know her you imbecile! She's my grandmother; was my grandmother!" She slammed her agenda shut and looked up at me angrily.
"You are Vea Harrisson. You are not related to this woman. You have never met her, never even seen her before. You will reap her soul and you will do it properly. I trained you to be a Reaper, not an emotional child. Now go." I pushed past her.
"How could you do this? You never had to reap your family's souls! You didn't even have any friends! How dare you push past me like this is just another soul!" I stopped and hung my head, gritting my teeth and clenching my fists.
"You don't know what I had to do! You don't know what I've done! I had to reap my daughter's soul! She was only three and I had to reap her soul. So, if you think reaping your healthy grandmother who is dying of old age is so horrible. I don't care what you do, Vea. Just quit acting like you've got it bad." Honestly, the audacity. I walked away with images of my past burning into my vision.

I went out and completed my tasks for the day, my recruitment had decided to go back and die a normal death. It's sad really, he would've made a phenomenal Reaper. No matter, I returned to headquarters and started packing up for the day.
I suppose I was rather harsh on Vea. I'm sure it's never easy to reap a family member's soul, regardless of their age and health. I made my way over to her office and sat down, waiting for her to return. Not long after she walked in and began speaking. "Kellen, listen-"
"No Vea, I shouldn't have expected you to react any differently than I did when I was assigned Lucy. And about what you said, it's okay. You didn't know." I stood up to leave but she stopped me before I made it to the door.
"No. I'm sorry, you're right I didn't know. So, I shouldn't have said anything." I gave a forgiving smile and returned to my office, nearly letting a tear roll down my cheek. After gathering up my work, I made my way home.
After settling I pulled out some papers and began to plan for the next day. I had yet another recruitment. I swear as time goes on more and more people are breaking His rules.
About half an hour into paperwork, Vea suddenly appeared inside my house. "Vea? How did you get in?" I asked though it was quite obvious. "Did you jump?" Excitedly I stood. I remembered my first time jumping, I'd nearly wet myself I was so terrified.
"Jump?" She paused. "I guess so. I didn't mean to, I was knocking when I just sort of... now I'm inside." She gave an apologetic look, though I found it quite humorous. I walked over and offered to take her jacket, hanging it on a nearby coatrack. I then walked into the living room and sat on the side opposite her. This ought to be interesting.
