Dear Elias,
How about this one?
"Maria? What's going on, it's 4 am" You said, voice groggy, hair a mess.
"Elias I can't postpone this anymore. We have to talk"
"Ok, come in" You let me into the small apartment you and your mother lived in. That day I remember seeing a few beer bottles lying around on the floor.
"I need the money I lent you immediately"
"What? Why?" You looked wide awake.
"It's an emergency. I've been trying to tell you this but you keep cutting me off. Dad's gone bankrupt."
Silence.
It filled the air like a disease, filling tension in the air.
I remember this day like it was yesterday.
"Bankrupt? But that's impossible, your father owns the biggest company out there!" panic filled your face.
"I know, but his competitor practically stole his customers from him. It's really bad, dad want's to sell the house"
"OK, well how much money do I owe?"
"$20 000"
Silence.
It filled the air like a disease, filling tension in the air.
"No."
"What?"
"I said no"
"But you can't, I've supported you for 4 months, I never said no to you, I need your help. Just give me the money"
"I said NO! Get out of my house, Get OUT!"
Remember how fast I ran? Because i can't seem to forget. But what you don't know is that I was crying. Yes, I was. I know you've never seen me cry, never saw me shed a tear. I never let myself seem weak in front of you.
I stayed strong, for you.
